Revamp/Spin Off Thread

Here we can discuss bout various revamps/spin off with popular franchies, like Belvery Hills 90210-90210, Scooby Doo! Where Are You?-Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get A Clue. I'm actualy surpised bout 80s franchies, Garfield and Alvin didn't get new shows after their live action ventures.

Not much of a fan to Revamps considering it's a conflict between purists and new audiences being introduce to old franchises.

A lot of the times, spin-offs aren't so good (Cory in the House, Joey).

And 90210 is more of a continuation of Beverly Hills, 90210, since it has many of the original characters.

I agree bout certain spin offs not livin up to the orignal series...So far I like Suite Life On Deck and I'll start watchin 90210 or at least try catchin up *laughs* the only episode of Corey In the House I like was Raven's episode. I'll defintly enjoy Maddie's visit on Suite Life On Deck too. I wish today's telvison didn't rely so much on gettin attractive stars and addin "steamy" romances to the plot.

I very much enjoy "The Suite Life on Deck" and "Cory in the House". Yup. I do. I think I prefer "That's So Raven" to CitH, though...I do enjoy CitH, though...but I like TSLoD just as much as TSLoZ&C.

I can see some franchise being revisited, Columbo, Miami Vice, The Torkelsons and a spin off bout "Boy Meets World". But as Walt always said, "You can't top pigs with pigs"

Saved By the Bell is one of the best spin-offs. Melrose Place got a lot of attention.

A new Melrose Place is being made, a la 90210.

Saved By The Bell was a spin off???? whoa didn't relaize that *chuckles* so Melrose's Place was the orignal "Saved By The Bell" ?

No.

Saved By the Bell was a spin-off of Good Morning, Miss Bliss starring Haley Mills.

Melrose Place was a spin-off of Beverly Hills, 90210.

Ah ok thanks for the clear up. I'll have to watch Melrose's Place one of these days.

And then "Saved By the Bell" had a spin-off- "Saved By the Bell: The New Class".

And "The Torkelsons" had a spin-off: "The Torkelsons Almost Home". I absolutely loved those shows!

When will The Torkelsons be released on dvd? hopefuly in full sets. I can't believe I grew up knowing that Saved By The Bell was its own show *chuckles*

I wish that both Torkelsons shows were released to DVD- I'd buy them! I agree- in season sets, not 4-episode compilations!

And, on repeats on TV, the "first season" of SBtB is shown as SBtB, but it's really "Good Morning, Miss Bliss". The episodes with Max & Nikki.

And that had a "spin-off" called "That's So Raven!"

Okay, just kidding. I remember reading somewhere that TsR takes place at Bayside and the high school set is the same one from Saved by the Bell. If you look at scenes of the hallway with the stairs, you can definitely see it once was the original Bayside Hallway, just without Mr. Belding's office.

I'm surpise that some people are ok with various spin ofs like 90210, but would it hurt to bring the orignals back to TV or at least release 'em on dvd.

Sometinmes I think the Jonas Bros are spin off of Hanson which is fairly true *laughs*

Music groups can't be spinoffs from other music groups. And the Jonas Brothers have said many times that they're not really fans of Hanson.

Okay, now you bring up 2 things that I hold near and dear: Hanson and Jonas Brothers. When I asked JB about Hanson (I love being able to say that <3), Joe said that they "respect" Hanson. Which I took as the nice way to say that they're not really fans. But, I did read somewhere that they used to listen to Hanson. And Jonas Brothers have nothing to do with Hanson- it's not like they got into the business because of Hanson, or that their songs are inspired by Hanson. I know that Hanson wishes JB luck with their career. Both bands are just separate.

aww hanson. that was a while ago, i remember "mmm bop" being the anthem for pre teens/tweens back then.

I agree that SBTB is one of the better spin offs out there. How can you beat Zack Morris with his huge cellular phone and his "Time Outs"

90210 is ok, I don't think it's anything special...then again, that's how I feel about the original, BH90210 too.

The best, spin off, I think, is Angel - the spinoff from Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 1999-2004. I was surprised when I loved Angel as much as Buffy.
