General comments and questions about the line-up:

Does anyone expect the Jonas Brothers Concert 3D movie to generate more box-office revenue than Hannah did last year? Are they as big a phenom as Hannah?

The trailer for Race to Witch Mountain looks good. I'm semi-excited for that re-make/sequel.

Hannah Montana The Movie: I don't know if she's as popular as last year?

Pixar's Up: I hope it lives up to Pixar's standards. I've been disappointed in their ability to draw in box office revenue the past few years (they've done good, just not as good as the past).

G-Force: I don't know what to think.

Toy Story 3D: It will be nice to see it on the big screen, but 3D movies give me a headache. The glasses are cumbersome by the end of the movie.

A Christmas Carol: I'm most excited for this one.

Old Dogs: I'm concerned about why they keep pushing the release later and later. Did they take Bernie Mac out of it all together?

The Princess and the Frog: Should be totally amazing. I hope it doesn't let me down.

I mostly look forward to these three.
Were the box office results for the latest Pixar films that disappointing? Or just less than the previous films? And how much less is it, exactly? Finding Nemo was the biggest, wasn't it?
I hope Robert Zemeckis can bring something new to A Christmas Carol. Otherwise there'd be no point in the millionth adaptation of it.
Of course, The Princess and the Frog should be amazing. I hope this also restores some of the audience's faith that 2D is a great format as well.

Definitely. In NJ, even bigger...but i think it's cause the bros are from here. Guess it helps there's really no other boy band competition out there. Haha, just remembering the days of bsb and nsync right now lol

Oh man, hope not.

I wanna see Toy Story, mainly cause of the 3-D and it'll be nice to sort of relive 1995 - watching it in theaters when it first came out.

As for the Princess and the Frog - I hope it's good too. When I first saw the trailer, I was surprised at how good it looks, since I didn't really enjoy a couple of Disney's more recent traditional animated movies.

I'm super SUPER excited about Princess and the Frog but at the same time am worried about it opening up on the same day as Alvin and the Chipmunks 2. Americans loved the first one for some unknown reason & it did HUGE box office business so it'll already have a built in fan base for the sequel. Also the last couple of years Disney has not been to big of a holiday season powerhouse it once was. Enchanted & Bolt both barely broke $100 million & Bedtime Stories didn't do as well as expected. :(

Can anyone think of any movies that could potentially be added to this list for 2009?

I'm wondering if The Sorcerer's Apprentice will make it to theaters in time. I kind of doubt it, but IMDb lists it for 2009 (yeah, I know....)

Updated!

I'm very surprised the Jonas Brothers weren't #1 this weekend. I took my step-daughter and one of her friends, and there were lines around the building!

I remember those bands, though not very much. Too young and never took interest. Plus, I'm not a girl, so I don't know why I kept that "millennium" poster all these years. lol

the 3D should be nice, though it might ruin the 2D experience for such a modern classic.

When I first saw the trailer, I was surprised there was a 2D animated movie at all. Goes to show how much of the real general public knows about this one.

And I still enjoyed some of the more recent traditionally animated films. Just not Brother Bear. I might give that one another shot. Teacher's Pet is good, at least.

The Jonas Brothers dropped 74% this past weekend. This one is going to make nowhere near the amount of last year's similar Hannah Montana 3D concert. :( Bad news for Disney and the Jonas Brothers, I guess. I wouldn't go see it, but I dropped off my step-daughter and a friend to see it.

Does anyone have any predictions for this weekend's Race to Witch Mountain? I am taking my entire family of SEVEN on Friday night - we can't wait.

I am guessing that Race To Witch Mountain is going to do alright. Maybe $130,000,000-$140,000,000. Looks somewhat entertaining.

oh id be suprised if it even hit a hundred million....dont you think? I mean it looks good but...how much did game plan make? I dont think that made 100,000...maybe who knows. i was thinking 80-90 mil. but I could be wrong some movies really suprise me like mall cop for instance. :)

Mall Cop quickly became a dud after it's opening, though. I wouldn't expect Witch Mountain to make much, unless there was more recognition of the original films, which Disney is NOT pushing much.

Updated. Race to Witch Mountain is going to do better than The Game Plan. I have no hope for the Jonas Brothers movie to make much more than it already has...

yeah sure, where do you get your info? Because after the coming weekend is over, Mall Cop will pass the re-release of Star Wars to become the biggest January release ever.

Actually, I was just guessing. I know "do your research".

And biggest January release is hardly that big a title. January's a pretty boring month, no matter what year it is.

Updated. For those of you who are on the fence - please give Hannah Montana a shot. I would not consider myself "a fan" and I enjoyed the movie with my step-daughter. The ending credits are good too, so stay through those.

Anyone have any CLUE on what we can expect from Earth as to opening weekend?

I doubt any Disney documentary has been so heavily advertised before, and it's got great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
