Anyone going to see this, or have seen this? Apparently it's not doing too well at the box office, it has only earnt $40 million when it cost $130 million to make. It's done allright in Australia, it's been at no. 1, but in the US it's peaked at 5, behind Four Christmases, Quantum of Solace, Twilight, and Bolt.
Guys, you should go see it, it's a love story, it's so epic, it's wonderful, awesome awesome awesome awesome landscapes, imagery and cinematography.

Trust me, it's great, very Gone with the Wind.

I planned on seeing it on my birthday if it's still showing (the 30th). I think Nicole Kidman's a good actress and it's really the only good thing that's playing (besides Doubt with Meryl Streep and Amy Adams--which I might choose instead).

I was thinking the cover looked a lot like Gone With The Wind, too.

I'm a sucker for both epics and romances, so this movie seems right up my alley, especially since I'm a fan of both Kidman and Jackman. I'll be seeing this tomorrow and will post my thoughts here if I find the time.

Am I the only one who is reminded by Out of Africa when I look at this movie? It just seems like another girl-meets-guy-in-exotic-place-and-falls-in-love story. Seems too generic, bland and unromantic for my tastes.

Well... it was pretty. And not... bad. But overly long.

And I wish Nicole Kidman hadn't botoxed herself into oblivion. I remember the good days when she could, you know, show emotion. Now her forehead looks like a plasma screen TV.

Jimmy, any chance of reducing the size of that image? It's throwing the width of my laptop screen all into sixes and sevens, what.

I was majorly disappointed with Australia. It was too long, it was over acted and directed and in a lot of ways, cheesy.

Visually it was stunning, but everything else was a let down.

I loved Australia!!! I didn't think that it was too long...but I didn't drink anything during the movie, just in case! :)

I'm also a sucker for epics and romances, and this was right up my alley, too! I thought that it was a really nice story, and I agree- it looked wonderful. It took a little while to get into, but I was not disappointed at all.

I highly recommend it, and I can't wait until it comes to DVD (which might be sooner rather than later, since it's not doing so well right now).

I absolutely LOATHED this movie. There were about 4 times that I thought the movie was ending, but no... it kept going & going & going. There was a point after about the first hour and a half (where I first thought the movie was ending), when I thought, "You know what... that was a decent movie". By the end of the film, however, I loathed it, and I now regret that I didn't go to see Four Christmases instead.

I didn't know that Donald Duck's nephew is in this movie! I'll need to look closer next time.

Oh, you meant Hughey.

Box Office Mojo says that it was #5 yesterday. And it was #4 Dec. 5-11...

One question...

Since this is a Baz Lurhman film...

- Any musical moments?
- Does it have good music?
- Any wild cinematography?

(MINOR SPOILER ALERT- highlight to read)

1. Some small ones.
2. The score is nice, from what I remember hearing, but I don't usually focus on the score...
3. The cinematography is breathtaking. I'm not sure if you mean wild as in amazing or in nature, but the locations are beautiful.

End of minor spoilers.
