Hey, this may not be, but I was just thinking, since Disney delayed Pocahontas and Lilo, and since Disney is releasing Mulan 2 and Tarzan 2 later this year, does anyone think we may see special editions of Mulan and Tarzan to go with them?? :)

I think it's very possible. I read somewhere else on this site that a certain country in Europe (was it Germany? Don't remember...) had a Mulan: SE due out Fall 2004 in their release schedule. Tarzan would be VERY easy for Disney to do because all they have to do is repackage the Collector's Edition and add a trailer for the sequel. I guess we'll see later in the year...

From a Collector's point of view, I would be angry if Disney re-released "Tarzan" like they did with "A Bug's Life." Both of them we're titled "Collector's Edition," and I think it's wrong to re-release a version that implies that it is the best they are going to offer and that it's somewhat limited, only to re-release it. If it is going to be re-released, Disney better have different special features for it. I also felt it was wrong for Disney to re-release "Pinocchio" and "Mulan" after claiming that it would be "Limited." I didn't jump on the ball with the "Limited Issues" and ended up owning both films through the "Gold Collection," but if I had bought those at the steep "Limited" price, I would have been furious. As for "Mulan," I would love to see a "Masterpiece Edition" in the near future.

I really will enjoy to see Tarzan and Mulan become Masterpiece Edition DVD's.
Both Mulan and Tarzan will soon have sequels in 2004 or 2005 (because it may be delay).
Mulan and Tarzan made great amount of money at the box office.
Both are great and deserve to be re-relase as Masterpiece Edition.

I have what is probably as good a copy of Tarzan that they will ever release, but I do not own Mulan in any format.

I look forward to it being re-issued, but I can understand how all these re-issues must be frustrating from a collector's POV. You go and buy one edition that you think will be it for 10 years, then another comes along a few short years later. As a collector, I have to admit to double dipping a few times. I try not to buy anything twice, and (maybe I shouldn't) but have learnt to make an exception in Disney's case.

Still, personally I welcome any move that would bring Mulan back onto DVD in ANY format...

I can understand how it can be annoying for there to be a new edition of a film you already have come out. But in this case, I don't understand the annoyance - simply because the new editions aren't likely to have anything added to them that will be worth the upgrade if you already own it.

Sure, a few set-top games or a trailer might be included, or acardboard slipcover over a keepcase, but thats really it.

In the case of A Bug's Life reissue, I'd say its even better to have the original release instead of the new - it has much better packaging. The same will probably true of Tarzan.

I say bring on the new editions. They are overdue, as far as I'm concerned. It'll give people a chance to have these treasures who missed out on the OOP previous releases.

the Mulan 2 preview will also be in the new Alice DVD, i would like to think a Mulan SE coming in 2005 is likely.

So can anyone upload some screenshots of Mulan 2 if not the whole trailer?

Now that their Florida studio was closed, I don't see a "Mulan SE" coming soon. How can they produce a DVD for "Mulan" and omit the fact that it was the very first feature film produced by the Florida artists?

Well, if Disney wanted, they could produce a really special "Mulan" DVD. The film has tons of deleted scenes/songs/characters. Besides, lots of gorgeous art was produced. And even if Disney didn't want to spend money on new interviews with the artists, they could use the making of featurette produced for TV when the film was released.

I wouldn't mind an SE release of Mulan. I have Mulan on VHS but I didn't get the DVD because there weren't that many special features on it. Mulan is one of my favorite Disney movies. Gotta love that Mushu.

Very easily based on the LD content they "omit" on their 2 disc releases!
