Finally There's Hope for the Space Age Family Jetsons DVDs

Back in May 2004, Warner Home Video released <i>The Jetsons - Season 1</i> on DVD. These are the original 24 cartoons produced from 1962-63. In 1985, Warner revived the program and continued with a long-delayed second season that consisted of 41 episodes, and a third season of 10 episodes. Those 51 cartoons, which introduced family pet "Orbitty" and where shown in syndication, have never been released on DVD. But now it looks like they're on the way!
The other night, this past Friday evening, animation expert Mark Evanier posted at his blog a bit called "How I Spent Today". In it, he explains how in the afternoon he went "<i>out to the Warner Brothers lot to be interviewed for little behind-the-scenes videos that will appear on two upcoming DVDs of cartoon shows.</i>" One of those shows was <i>Plastic Man</i>, which we've posted news about separately. The other was "<i>the 1985 syndicated Jetsons revival</i>"!
Head over to Mark's blog for all the details about how he only worked on the 1985 show "for about an hour", and why. Our thanks to Mark for the post, and also to reader Dave De Silva for the heads-up about his finding the info over there. And stay tuned, because we'll update you further as more developments about this upcoming release occur!

Great News! Now, any word if one of these sets will include the 1990 "The Jetsons Movie" (I know it might be hard cause Universal owns the movie, and Warner owns the show, but maybe they could bring it over as a bonus feature or something).

So they're only releasing the 1980s episodes? I guess that makes sense, considering that they have released the 1960s episodes already.
Any word on bonuses?

In my honest opinion, I liked "The Jetsons" more than "The Flintstones" (though I loved both). I just loved the style of it all.
Now, if we get the Hanna Barbera TV movies (including the crossover movie with The Flintstones) and the Jetsons theatrical movie on DVD I shall forever be set...

As a kid I LOVED the movie. It had trippy CG effects and the story was pretty good.
Now its a standard big release film but still quite enjoyable for nostalgia reasons.

Now a while back I heard a couple of years ago that there was talks of a Live Action Jetsons Movie with Steve Martin and he would be sporting Orange Hair for the main lead..
Is there any truth to that still happening....?? I mean If they can Make a Flintstones Movie live action 2 times in the 90s surely they can make a Live Action Jetsons...
and this is just my speculating on who could play who in the movie should there be one made...
Miley Cyrus perhaps sporting white hair for Judy Jetson and Bonnie Hunt being George's Wife Jane..followed by Rosie O'Donnel as Rosie the Robot and maybe (that might be too much of a cliche) one of the sprouse twins as Elroy.....and someone voiceover Astro similair to how they did the Scooby Doo Live Action version of the actuaul Scooby Doo? and Danny Devito as Mr. Spacely...

For the voice of Astro, how about Neil Fanning, who did the voice of Scooby-Doo in the live-action movies? And
definitely have Danny Devito as Spacely. He's just a natural for that role.

UD/izzy has a review for Season Two, Volume One:
The Jetsons: Season 2, Volume 1 DVD Review by Luke.
There's in incomplete sentence though ("There are two characters per disc in the colorful"...), but otherwise it was a great read.

I hope to be able to get season 2 volume 1 soon. Hopefully during the Deep Discount 20% sale that is hopefully happening this year.
I second to hoping they release the rest of the show and also The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones. I used to love this movie when I was a kid and would love to have it on dvd.
