Disney on Ice/on Broadway

I was wondering... Have you ever been to one of those Disney on Ice touring shows?
I have only been to four - Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Hercules and Toy Story - and I loved them at the time. And I still think they are very well produced - much more than most people seem. Well, the company has not returned to Brazil since 2000.
I also wanted to see the Broadway version of "Beauty and the Beast", which played her in Brazil for about two year. Unfortunately, it was too far away from where I live, so I couldn't see it.

Well, have you ever been to any of these shows? Broadway or On Ice? I know it isn't fair to compare both (of course the Broadway plays are better for obvious reasons), but I just want to know your opinion about them.

I've only been to two Disney on Ice shows-Hercules and another one WAY earlier from like the early 90's. It had a bunch of Disney characters and some sort of plot about them turning into miniature dolls or something. I don't remember that one, much. Anyway, I loved both and would like to go to another Disney on Ice show. I've never seen any of their Broadway ones, though.

I saw a number of Disney on Ice shows in the mid '90's, and they were great. I have seen Aida, Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. Lion King and Beauty and the Beast are GREAT. Aida is intesting it combins classical Broadway style with modern music and dance numbers

Hmm, very nice Ludwig... I really like the Broadway musicals, but I think I'll be more interested on them when I get to see them.
Do you remember what Disney On Ice shows you saw?

Hmm, Disneykid, I did not know about this show you mentioned. Must be interesting. :)

I simply have to see Aida when it comes to Europe as an English language production. Just by listening to the Cast Recording CD I have fallen in love with it and it has become my favorite musical. I wish they'd make a movie or video version of it.

I used to go see Disney on Ice all the time as a kid. I haven't been in YEARS though! I loved Beauty and the Beast on braodway. It was the first broadway show I actually saw on Broadway. I was amazed. I then saw it twice when it was touring and stoped in Denver. I also got to see Aida when it was in Denver. I have always been a fan of the opera and was so scared that it would be ruined... but I was truely amazed. I would HIGHLY reccomend it. I have not seen the Lion King yet though. Someday sooon I hope...

I love the Lion King on Broadway. It is one of my favorite shows - the music is great, the puppets are wonderful, and even if the acting wasn't so amazing at the two shows I went to (understudy Little Simba forgot his lines) the rest of it is so artistic that you don't even notice. A word of advice - if you go, get an aisle seat. It's very cool. :D

I saw a number of them but these are the ones that I remember: "Beauty and the Beast," "Snow White" and one with a lot of different characters where Scrooge goes back in time and I think that one or another one had Roger Rabbit.

I've probably seen about a dozen of the ice shows over the years (plus the non-Disney Anastasia on Ice). All were exellent. It was sort of a yearly event, whenever they came around.

Then, in 2001, I discovered the OTHER touring theater option -- namely, Broadway musicals. I get to see one a year, but it comes instead of Disney on Ice. Which is okay because as much as I loved the ice shows the Broadway stuff is obviously better.

I've seen The Phantom of the Opera (2001) and Les Miserables (2002) and will be seeing The Lion King in March. Beauty and the Beast, Aida and Cats all toured here recently as well but through a series of circumstances I missed them. Darn.

I know this one! It toured here in Brazil in 1995, but I don't think it came to my city. At least a friend of mine bought the show program (the book) and he scanned me some pictures of it.

One of my coworkers remembers seeing a televised production of Disney on Ice with Mulan, starring Michelle Kwan. Does anybody know if this, or other Disney on Ice shows, ever gets rebroadcast or put on video?

The only one I've seen is Aladdin, and that was when I was really young. I still remember it, though. I loved it so much!

I went to Disney On Ice in 1996, I believe. I can't really remember much of it, but I remember I did enjoy it very much. As for Broadway, I saw The Lion King in NYC in 1999. I wasn't too fond of that one, too abstract for my tastes.

While its not Broadway, I saw the Aladdin show at California Adventure, and I really liked that a lot. Its basically a condenced Broadway show, but heck I enjoyed it even more than the full-length TLK show. I hope to see Beauty and the Beast someday too, that one looks really great.

I wanted to go and see Aladdin on Ice but in England, it went to Birmingham instead of Manchester, which is nearer for me. Naughty Disney. :headshake:

I saw The Lion King on the West End and I thought it was very well done. I've also seen Beauty and the Beast on stage twice when it toured England (I saw it in two different venues at two different times). I hope it comes back again. :(

I have been a great fan of Disney On Ice shows my entire life. They are incredibly juvenile, but that doesn't mean they can't be fun. And the flashlights ROCK!!! :D
