7 Eleven Sells DVDs?!

Tonight I ran to 7 Eleven very quickly (I was in a rush), and as I was walking out, I saw that they were selling DVDs in the front of the store, the majority of them, if not all of them, seemed to be $9.99. I was pretty much running by them, and I saw that they had titles like "World Trade Center", and "Juno". They had tons of other movies, I just didn't get to look through them. The price tag on the DVD case said something like how it was display only and that you had to bring it up to the register for the actual DVD. What's the deal with these DVDs, anyone know? Are the DVDs new or used? And why are they so cheap (if they're not used)? Are they just bootlegs / non region 1 DVDs?

There probably new. I've seen a lot of places that carry DVDs now. The place I get my groceries at has 2 huge DVD displays near the check out. Its usually older titles priced at $6.99, or $9.99.

World Trade Center has been in $3 - $5 displays for awhile. $9.99 for the 1 disc Juno sounds about right. Also if you have a Big Lots they seem to be getting tons of DVD displays lately for $3. I've heard the latest display has Close Encounters, and the 3 Disc Hellboy in it.

Good to know. It probably wasn't World Trade Center now that I think about it. Maybe I'll go back today and pick up "Juno" and maybe "Why Did I Get Married?".

That sounds interesting. Too bad almost all the 7-Elevens in my area have been replaced with third-rate party stores.

It's more common to find DVDs in gas stations on the road, that's actually how I got my copy of The Producers :D

Just use either Amazon, Buy.com, or DeepDiscount... they'll beat the prices of ANY brick-and-mortar store guaranteed :D

But if you don't have a credit card, Wal-Mart's nice too...

I don't usually shop online much, and I only buy new DVDs and CDs online (except for places like FYE.com, where I usually buy used). I was just in Wal-Mart yesterday, and it was SO disgusting! It's just so...dirty! Haha. Well anyway, I didn't really see anything of interest in there so I may just go in and try 7 Eleven and see what they've got. If it's expensive I will go to FYE or GameStop and I buy used there. Although sometimes it's not always cheap used, they're reliable. Plus in FYE if you buy two used items you get the third 50% off. FYE is so expensive when buying (most) things new. I usually go to Best Buy or Circuit City or Target to find DVDs new, because they're cheaper. I'm not a "cheap-o" or a "tightwad", I'm just a DVD-buy-aholic (whoa I think I just invented a new word there), and it gets expensive, especially when you have to spend money on more than just DVDs. :D

You might be aware that those DVD's at the local gas station or 7 Eleven (whatever that it is) may be "foolscreen" videos and not the most-wanted widescreen versions of the movies. I noticed that the local stores that have DVD's by the register, that about 90% of them are Pan and Scan "foolscreen" only videos. Curses, even if they gave them away, I wouldn't own a 'foolscreen' copy of a movie that is available in Widescreen.

Buyer beware!!! You have been cautioned. Read before you buy, and then start posting your complaints about not getting the product you really wanted.

I wasn't talking about the used ones at Amazon... I mean the brand new ones.

And yeah, some Wal-Mart stores are disgusting... but would you rather pay more in a nice-looking store?
