Now ok i know what you guys are thinking "sheesh chris, dvd came in 2004 time to rant about more recent news" but ya know PUT A LID ON IT lol.
And in pan & scan no widescreen. Also where is the trailer. Disney, Disney, Disney this was a classic give it the respect it deserves. And the tacky yellow frame around the credits Disney! whats with this lousy print, it wasn't on the VHS.
Back to topic at hand granted was so happy had a couple scenes that weren't on the '85 vhs release and the looking back with lem's boys thing or whatever the name of it was ok, if you want to see a bunch of has been, never were actors.
But why not a commentary with some of the still living actually were famous stars. Elliot Reed is still with us, same goes for Vera Miles who played MacMurray's wife for pete's sake need more reason to be included, and Kurt Russell well d'uh this was one of his best early screen roles.
I can hear it now.
Elliot Reed: So great sitting here today, hey Fred MacMurray isn't here maybe i finally get the girl.
Vera Miles: Elliot, you didn't get the girl in 1966 and today 38 years later you still will not be getting the girl. MOVING ON!
lol

No worries, Chris. I bitch about the crappiness of many Disney DVDs frequently.

The thing I don't understand about the dvd of Follow Me Boys is that while the video quality is very poor, the scenes they show during the bonus feature are of very good quality. If such a quality print exists, whey did they use it for the clips and interviews but not for the main feature?

I'll point you in the direction of this post of mine from 2006

Although I'll recap here anyway
The UK edition of Follow Me Boys! is not in widescreen, but it does appear to be an open matte transfer with more picture than the R1, for example:
Screencap from Luke's R1 review
screencap from UK DVD
Screencap from Luke's R1 review
screencap from UK DVD
It also looks as though the R2 image is sharper and not as washed out as the R1.

Oh wow. Normally it's the other way around (good quality for the film, not-so-good quality for film clips in extras). I'm surprised at this.
Follow Me, Boys! is not one of my favorites, I've only seen it a few times and never really had much incentive to get the DVD.

It's the same with The Happiest Millionaire. I posted screencaps of the clip from t=The Family Band bonus feature on that DVD compared with the actual print on Millionaire's disc. I hate to think someone spent all that time restoring stuff just to see it go to waste (and it sucks for us fans too!).
