From TVShowsonDVD...
A&E has announced that they are collecting everything that's ever "Bean" seen with the Rowan Atkinson character together into one new, unique 7-disc set: Mr. Bean - The Ultimate Collection on DVD! It will contain all 14 episodes of the classic 1989 live-action series, plus all 16 cartoons from the 2001 animated series, as well as the 1997 feature film Bean, The Movie (including Peter MacNicol, Pamela Reed, Burt Reynolds and Johnny Galecki) and the 2007 feature film Mr. Bean's Holiday (including Willem Dafoe, Emma de Caunes, Max Baldry and Jean Rochefort).
Additionally there will be extras: A Bonus Documentary, Deleted Scenes, Never-Before-Seen-On-TV Sketches, "and more!" Running time is 729 minutes, and the cost is $69.95 SRP but you can pre-order it from Amazon for $48.99, at least as of this writing (Amazon pricing is subject to change at their discretion). It's the perfect chance to get it all in one place! It's available starting on December 16th. Here's a look at the package art:

Mr. Bean - New Ultimate Collection DVD Release Collects Both TV Series, Both Films in 1 Package

It'll be a 7-disc set featuring the live-action series, the animation series, and the two movies, as well as all the existing extras ("and more" apparently...). I just hope that the live-action episodes aren't edited anymore (apparently some were edited for time?). The only Bean DVD I have right now is Mr. Bean's Holiday so I plan on getting this set.

I'm a bit confused about the animated series, however. The TVShowsonDVD article says that 16 episodes will be included, but there are 26, and they were originally released across 6 DVDs. However, the package shows only two DVDs for the animated series ("It's Not Easy Being Bean" and "Bean There, Done That").

Funny thing about Mr.Bean...

In my circle of friends they love Rowan Atkinson (we've seen Blackadder as well as his non-Bean movies). But despise Bean mainly because people associate Rowan for Bean than any of his other roles.

To an extend, I understand this but the reality is that Rowan ROCKS as Bean. He's a great actor overall but his delivery as Bean is impecable.

BTW Scaps, ever heard of "Keeping Mum"? Its a great English film starring Rowan. You should seek it.

It's actually on OnDemand right now (until December) and I had heard of it but never got around to watching it (chose to watch Almost Famous last night instead).

BTW...I don't remember quoting the TVShowsonDVD article or including the image cap. Hmm...I must be going crazy or something.

I think I understand your friends. Rowan Atkinson is great as Mr. Bean (it was the first I saw of him) but I would regard Blackadder higher than the Mr. Bean series. But Bean is probably more universal, while Blackadder is much more British (in the storylines and the humor). That doesn't mean I don't like Mr. Bean (hey, that rhymes :)) but it is a bit overrated.
Anyway, when can we expect the first Blackadder movie :D?.

I like Mr Bean, but I would not buy this set for a few reasons:

1.I do not care for the animated Mr. Bean series at all. I saw it on PBS a few years ago and it was not the same as the original series.

2.I already own Mr Bean's Holiday and I have not seen the first Bean movie.

3.I own a "Best of" DVD that has the Christmas episode (which is one of my favorites) on it.
UPDATE I now own the Whole Bean box set. Another reason why I will not buy this set.

Strange, I was not aware this show was ever edited. I thought we could count on A&E...

After spending over $30 on the "Whole Bean" box, I just plain old don't feel like getting another box. Ever.
