You mean all the money that the US government will use in order to prevent(Yeah right...)a bankruptcy by absorbing that debt?
Well...IMO this will only make worse everything because is the people's money which is paying the mistakes of a bank, and guess who is the only one with profits?
Believe me, Mexico had the same scenario on 1994, something called "FOBAPROA" and then called IPAB.

Its horrible. I think we are going to end up loosing either way on the bail out deal. I have a feeling we haven't seen the worst yet, although I hope it bounces back quickly.

And how much money did we send to Iraq?

More than the needed
I won't tell that invading Irak was the reason of this crisis; but having the soldiers on their houses by now would have meant less wasted money for the US goverment(not only money on food, ammo, weapons but also the increasing value of metals as iron...and considering how useful is this on the construction what an ascending price would impact also everything that use it...)

We have spent a lot in Iraq, but its not the main/only reason for this mess.

The US is still sending 10 billion a month to fun the war according to Obama last night. So yeah, bring the boys home-how can we keep funding that when there is such a huge crisis at home?
This is a horrible situation.
