I was looking up information on the Disneyland television series. There are close to 1000 episodes and I wondered how many episodes were available on DVD, so I decided to check out the list and find out. I have the first season of episodes listed here. If you have any more info on any of the episodes, like if they are available somewhere I don't have listed, post it here.

I must thank the Disneyland page at tvtome.com:

Maybe they will bring them out on a season thing. That would be really cool. I would like to see the whole show not just parts of it, that they have in the extra stuff.

Thanks, Maerj. That is a really useful list.

There are more on DVD than I thought, but there are still a lot of ones yet to come. I'd love to see them all unedited on DVD one day, even the ones that are essentially compilations of movies/shorts.

What interests me the most is "Behind the Scenes with Fess Parker" from the end of Season 2, which seemed to be released to coincide with the theatrical release of Davy Crockett and the River Pirates (according to the Leonard Maltin book, p.388, Fourth Edition). Being a big "Crockett" fan (it is the only Treasure set I have watched right through more that once), I'd be really keen to see anythign else Disney did. I'm surprised this was not a supplement on the Treasure set.

Also a season thing with these shows will be too much to put on a set I think.
I doubt that will never happen....

Oh, by the way
I have the complete list up to the END of the airings when Disney Channel took over the whole thing.
Please ask me to put it here if you want to see it. Otherwise I will not occupy prescious bandwidth with this LOOOOOOOONG list! 8)

Not on the barebones R4 (and I guess R2 one). However, they have the advantage of being in 1.85:1 widescreen.

Hmm, very nice list Maerj!
Just some observations:
"Operation Wonderland" WILL be on the 2-disc "Alice" and was available on the previous Gold Collection edition.
"So Dear To My Heart" is, of course, available on the DVD of "So Dear To My Heart" (which was only released internationally). It has the Walt Disney introduction from the program as well.

Hmm, and I think we may see "The Walt Disney Christmas Show" on the future Platinum/Special/Collector's/Masterpiece/whatever version of "Peter Pan". I wish it was included on the French 2-disc set.

That list doesn't seem to be complete.

Off the top of my head I notice that it's missing at least the following episodes:

- Adventures In Color
- Adventures In Fantasy
- Adventures Of Chip N Dale
- All About Magic
- At Home With Donald Duck
- Baseball Fever
- The Coyote's Lament
- Fourth Anniversary Show
- The Goofy Adventure Story
- How To Relax
- More About Silly Symphonies
- The Ranger Of Brownstone
- Your Host, Donald Duck

Btw, if anyone's interested I have "Your Host, Donald Duck" from the 'Disneyland Anthology Show' recorded on video along with the very first segment of Jiminy Cricket's 'You And Your...' series, titled "The Five Senses" as well as "The Human Animal" and followed by a few episodes of the old Disney Channel 'Donald Duck Presents' and 'Welcome To Pooh Corner' series.

This is imo, the best live-action/animated Disneyland episode ever, filmed in black & white with full technicolor shorts incorporated inbetween live-action segments featuring Walt and Donald w/ his 3 nephews. It's got a bunch of exclusive animated sequences along with appearances from Ludwig Von Drake and other characters.

I hope this is eventually released to DVD through one of the upcoming Donald Duck Treasures as a supplemental of some sort. Its my favorite Disneyland episode to date, along with "The Ranger Of Brownstone" simply because those cartoons are otherwise unavailable in almost all home video formats..

Thanks for the info guys, I will be updating the list very soon!

Again to some of you, remember these are only the first 2 seasons! There are 37 seasons to go!

I also don't think we will be getting season box sets as there are close to 1000 episodes! That would be one monster of a set. Some episodes as you can see were just showing movies, like Dumbo, for example. So really we don't need that episode on DVD unless someone really wants an edited black and white version of Dumbo? Anyone? I didn't think so.

I think that we will still get more episodes on the Treasures sets, and maybe one day we could get larger themed sets of episodes. As long as they keep doing that, we could still end up getting a good bit of this series.

Also be sure to check out the link to the tvtome site. The guy who did that did a lot of work on that. Maybe I will email him and thank him and let him know what we are doing here. Maybe he'll join us?

A little update here... as you can see, Season 3 is up and there are a lot more episodes here that are unavailable on DVD. I am unsure as to the exact content of some of the episodes, if I knew more abotu what was in each one, some of them might be considered available. Like the Donald episodes COULD be all just compilations of shorts, if so, we are getting them on DVD and I would take those episodes off the list.

I also emailed the person who compiled the list at tvtome.com and asked him to join our group. I read his bio and I think he would be a great addition to our group. In addition to being able to help us here, we may be able to help him on his site, providing a breif synopsis of each epsiode, DVD availability, etc. One of our new members, Walt Forever, has also offered to help! Thanks to all who have!

This one is on the Sword in the Stone DVD(US).
It is the complete show, and it contains introductions with Walt talking into the Magic Mirror (from Snow White) before cutting to several shorts etc (for example, the Trick or Treat short with Huey, Duey, Louie and the witch). All in glorious black and white of course...

No problem.
Just a way of saying "thanks" for doing these lists...really helpful, actually. Makes you realise just how many aren't available. I look forward to seeing more of them someday. Especially "Behind the Cameras at Lapland" :D

Maerj wrote:65. 3-13 Your Host, Donald Duck NA, Is this more Donald shorts?
Donald manipulates Walt into letting him host the show with the help of his 3 nephews by secretly altering his voice using a makeshift record player device. With his now prominent spoken delivery, the majority of the episode portrays the arrogant Donald Duck acting as master of ceremonies, introducing shorts and upcoming projects as well as pretentiously bragging about his great thespian talents but there are all sorts of funny little mishaps throughout revolving around his hidden vocal apparatus. The show features many exclusive animated segments and many sequences featuring Walt himself interacting with the characters. Donald acts in his usual pompous and egotistical nature, revolving the entire show around his own cartoons, each with a different Disneyland theme - Adventure, Fantasy, Frontier, Tomorrow, etc. and for each Donald assumes a different persona. The shorts featured, if I remember correctly, are: "Clown Of The Jungle", "Uncle Donald's Ants", "Test Pilot Donald" and "Timber". There are enough animated exclusives to warrant an inclusion on some sort of home video release. This is easily my favorite Disneyland episode, I hope it eventually does gets put out.
