Which disney character do you think has the best, most beautiful singing voice? (pick a boy and a girl)

For female, it's a toss up between Ariel and Aurora, and for male, Prince Phillip. I know Phillip didn't sing much in the film, but hearing Bill Shirley in other projects like My Fair Lady and Broadway shows, I love his voice.

Girl: Ariel
Boy: Hercules

The guy who sings as Quasimodo is extremely talented, but there's something about his voice tone I don't like.

I agree..

It's hard to say for the girls, I've always thought Mary Costa (Aurora) has the most beautiful operatic voice. But then again I love Jodi's sweet youthful sound along with Lea Solonga. I can't say the same for Snow White though *shrillish eeep* :(. Ilene Woods has that classic 50's sound to Cinderella (My mom is actually listening to "A Dream is Wish your Heart Makes" right now. Judy Kuhn has a very strong voice, and Paige O'Hara has a deeper fuller sound "More European Sounding" as they would say. I think Susan Egan does a good job at singing Meg's part, but it's very similar to her speaking voice, like you definitely tell its still her voice, but its okay because I think she does a spectacular job at that song she sings. I don't know, I can't decide which of the females vocals I like the best with the execption of Snow White :( I think Jodi and Lea sound the most similar of the bunch though.

As for the guys...eh, I've never really liked any of them  there voices just aren't as memorable as the girls. If I had to decide I think I'd pick...The Mad Hatter and the March Hare  :P

Girl: I'd probably say Jodi Benson, but I must give credit to Paige O'hara - beautiful voice:

Boy: Well, this is a hard one but I did like Matthew Broderick's voice in the Lion King - all 2 seconds of it, lol  :

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PeQUbtmJkSo&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PeQUbtmJkSo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

and ofcourse Jonathan Taylor Thomas who played young Simba sung beautifully! I looove his little bit in Hakuna Matata at 1:32:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ejEVczA8PLU&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ejEVczA8PLU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

plus, Matthew Broderick's voice is so sexy at 3:16!

"The guy who sings as Quasimodo" is Tom Hulce of course, and I think he is quite good for an amateur. I feel the same about Mel Gibson singing in 'Pocahontas". (Alan Menken himself stated he likes Mel Gibson's singing voice)

As for the females: they are all good singers, hard to pick... well, except maybe for snow white, she was screetching to much.

Actually I cannot recall any Disney movie with a really bad singer... oh wait: I do not like the singing of Jeremy Irons as Scar in The Lion King But even he is much better than Pierce Brosnan in "Mamma Mia"' !

I disagree about Mel Gibson. He was the main reason I wasn't that disappointed "If I Never Knew You" had been taken out.

I knew it! One person at least would disagree! On imdb boards many people express the same opinion.
Those who are bothered by Gibson's voice can choose to play the original theatrical release' when they put on the DVD, so they won't hear him singing that song.

Though I don't expect that Disney's Divinity plays Pocahontas often. :P

Anyway I've not decided yet whose singing voice I like best.

You'd be surprised that I do watch Pocahontas as often as most films I own. I really don't hate Pocahontas (though I think our previous "debate" made it seem that way), I just don't think it's the best of Disney. It's more like the Robin Hood of the modern generation. I really love Judy Kuhn's voice and David Ogden Stiers' performance is, of course, amazing. Grandmother Willow, Pocahontas, Kokoum, Wiggins and Nakoma are all great, original characters and "Just Around the Riverbend" is one of my favorite Disney songs. I just find the film has a lot of flaws that's hard to overlook, but that definitely doesn't mean I hate it. I don't think there is a Disney film that I fully dislike.

So that this post isn't entirely pointless, I'll add to my original one:

Girls

1. Jodi Benson/Ariel
2. Judy Kuhn/Pocahontas
3. Ilene Woods/Cinderella
4. Susan Egan/Megara
5. Mary Costa/Aurora

Guys

1. Roger Bart/Hercules
2. Brad Kane/Aladdin
3. Tom Hulce/Quasimodo

Best Character Singing Voice

Lea Salonga has the most beautiful voice! If you listen to her other stuff, like the Lez Mis concert, OMG! But we should only count the film, and it is still great there, duh, 'cause she's so great. She actually seemed to have made herself sound younger to match Jasmine's speaking voice. You know, Jasmine's speaking voice is strangely the most childish sounding one, more than Snow White's, I'd say!

I can't believe Lea's not in your ranks, Divinity, as Jasmine or Mulan.

It's tough for me to say who is better, Lea or Jodi. But I'll say Lea.

You know, Jodi got kinda...bad in TLM: AB, like nasally or something. But we can't count sequels. I guess her voice is perfect in the original. Wonder what happened. Maybe she tried for a younger sound, or maybe 'cause Ariel supposedly never sang prior to "I Remember", and that whole idea, and song, is just messed up anyway. Yea some parts are beautiful but it's a real mess.

For a guy...Prince Edward from Enchanted, I guess. I listened to Quasi and he is a little too high, and weird vibrato-y for me and since we can't choose the excellent German musical...! Though actually, even if I think Edward's the best, I'd probably rather listen to Quasi, but it could be because of the superior Hunchback songs.

No offense to her (or you)--I find her talented, but high voices like hers aren't my cup tea (one of the reasons I didn't like Kerry Butler or Sierra Boggess as Ariel in the musical [though Boggess is definitely the lesser of two evils]). I like tones that are around the middle or lower. I don't know, high voices (to me) seem to convey less emotion because they're so up there they couldn't possibly be compared to talking normally (musical theater always seems to turn what could be said in conversation into song, so that's the point I was making).
But we can't count sequels. I guess her voice is perfect in the original. Wonder what happened.
Though I disagree, maybe the difference you found is her age. It has been nearly 20 years. Imo, "I Remember" isn't too great of a song anyway. Benson's the only thing I liked about it.

What about Prince Edward? I thought James Marsden was amazing.

As for the female, it's Jodi Benson as Ariel for me. No doubt about it.

This is really hard. But since I am a villain fan, most of my choices will go to the villains due to their great voices. :P

Male: Tony Jay, Jonathan Freeman, Jeremy Irons and Vincent Price

Female: Pat Carroll, Suzanne Pleshette, Paige O'Hara and Jodi Benson
