Thanks for the link! :)

Hm. I really hope they don't get rid of Illuminations. I actually still haven't seen it.

You are most welcome! I am a huge WDW News Today fan ... as well as their sister site DL News Today ...

I too hope I get to see Illuminations: Reflections of Earth before it vanishes ... as well as Soarin' ... I haven't been to Epcot in years ...

If this is true, I'll be sad to see Illuminations go. I think it was the best fireworks/special effects show at the parks. It's like a pyrotechnic's dream - fireworks, fire, explosions, lasers.

I also forgot to mention that I'm all for another roller coaster, but I don't know how I feel about a Monsters, Inc. one.

40TH ANNIVERSARY

I am hoping for the upgrade to Space Mountain. After DL completed its renovation in 2005, I thought WDW would have followed shortly thereafter. From what I have read, the DL version has received very favorable reviews and I would like to see something similar done to the WDW version.

The renvoations at DL took almost two years to complete so if they are going to update this attraction for the anniversary year it should be getting started early next year, I would think.

The Disneyland refurb of Space Mountain is amazing! SO much better. It's all dark now - can't see the track at all. Also, it's side-by-side seating with a better sound system and a smoother track.

WDW would be smart to follow suit! I just hope they don't close it for 2 whole years!!!

Because there is only 1 track unlike WDW. That was done to make up for capacity issues and would never make it to WDW's version.

As for the length of it's refurbishment, it seems to change every day. management wants it to be as short as possible, because it would lower the parks capacity. Not that their decisions to close 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Skyway, Mike Fink Keel Boats, The Adventureland Veranda and others and replace them with nothing didn't already.

But what about if they replaced the track also at WDW? Couldn't they then put in the side-by-side seating? I rather like it that way a lot better.

That's not going to happen in a million years, there's no space since both tracks intertwine with each other, not to mention the stronger supports that would have to be built. The cost would be outrageous and it would just make the lengthly rehab even longer. Not to mention it's completely unnecessary. With both tracks the rides hourly capacity is well over 2,000 an hour.

OK - I see your point, but didn't they only decide to gut Disneyland's track and build a new one once they got started on the refurb and determined how bad the condition of the track was?

Are they estimating the time of the refurb of WDW's Space Mountain to be 2 years even without replacing the track?

yes, by adding speakers to the vehicles the track had alot of unwanted stress put on it and it had to be replaced (by a duplicate of the track being built for HKDL).

Some people are hoping for an 18-24 month long rehab (which would include some fixing/partial replacement of the existing track) but still others want an April-November thing. Let's hope the others get their brains fixed soon and focus more on building the new E-Ticket for MK.

I think they should scrap the two track deal and go with one long track with four seats across, with the cars coming from Bolliger and Mabillard and throw in a launch and at least one loop.

I totally agree! I think they need to have a "new" feel to the attraction. Side-by-side seating with speakers in the seats. A loop would be cool, but not necessary.
Great ideas!
