-Before anyone starts, I used the search tool and couldn't find any other topic on season 5 of Desperate housewives-
Right, season 5 of Desperate Housewives is almost upon us and I have found the first all new footage of the housewives in the ABC fall promo 2008! For those of you who haven't seen it, and for those of you who can't get enough of it (like me

) here it is...
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="

I think Bree looks amazing here and the song 'September' (a favourite of mine for years) fits so well. It's also nice to see Katherine with the girls who has truly captured my heart! I cannot stop watching it and I cannot wait for the official season 5 promo!

Since this is a season 5 discussion, I will post rumored spoilers for the upcoming season... just highlight
Episode 5-1 (Season premiere) September 28
As revealed in the 4th season finale, next season picks up five years after the events of last season. Expect some flashbacks to show us how the women's lives changed.
Bree's a guest on a Fairview cooking show. She introduces her staff, which includes Katherine. After Katherine informs the host that she's never known a better cook than Bree, Katherine purposely pretends to have injured her hand so Bree's forced to finish preparing a difficult French dessert on camera. Disaster ensues. Also, Bree clashes with a photographer.
Gabrielle's daughter Juanita (who's 4 and a half) unsuccessfully tries to wear a dress that's too small for her. She's in denial about her daughter's weight issues. Gabrielle overhears two mothers blaming her for Juanita's weight; she confronts the women.
Thanks to teenage Porter and Preston (now played by Charles and Max Carver), the Scavo's restaurant is turned into an illegal casino for their teen friends. When Lynette learns about this, she grounds the boys, who want their punishment postponed til after Homecoming. As the good son who's not been grounded, Parker (now played by Joshua Moore) has to take sister Penny (now played by Kendall Applegate) to soccer practice. He wants to be home in time to get back to his computer game, as he's grown up to become a technogeek.
Susan and Mike are divorced, but he's not out of her life altogether, thanks to the existence of their son, M.J. We'll learn why they got a divorce. Susan's new man Jackson (Gale Harold) has a scene where he's not wearing all of his clothes. Susan's closed off to love and doesn't want to be in a relationship. When Susan and Jackson first met, she initially wasn't into him. Susan's first scene of the season after the teaser was based on something Teri Hatcher suggested.
A woman we've never met before takes a call from her husband. He claims to be snowed in at the airport, unable to leave til morning. His wife is frustrated as he's gone half the time now. They have a young daughter.
Dave, a newly married man (played by new series regular Neal McDonough) wants to get a house for Edie, his wife. Specifically, he wants to get her old house on Wisteria Lane. Dave tells the elderly man living there that he's going to buy him out his lease -- right now! He's not going to take no for an answer, and he's going to count to five to give the man a chance to agree.
Dave takes a call from a doctor who reminds him he's supposed to check in once a week. He tells his doctor he's living close to Boston. The doctor tells another doctor he's worried about Dave, who once had an intense fixation on one person.
Episode 5-2 "We're So Happy You're So Happy" October 5
Bree's scheduled to do a radio interview about her book, Mrs. Van De Kamp's Old Fashioned Cooking. When the interviewer says something about Mr. Van De Kamp, Bree mentions he's dead, and goes along with the interviewer who suggests the book is her tribute to her dead husband.
Carlos is working as a masseur at his house. Gabrielle isn't happy about that; she wants him to work out of the country club, and reveals she just spent the last of the drug money they took from Ellie. Gabrielle speaks with a socialite at the country club who misses having Gaby around. Gabrielle claims her kids have taken up her time; the socialite is happy to have her back on the scene.
Susan confronts Mike at a bar. She's looking for Jackson (Gale Harold). Mike claims he's unaware of Jackson's whereabouts but Susan doesn't believe him.
Episode 5-3 October 12
Welcome back Danielle! She returns to Fairview with a Jewish husband and her son . . . Benjamin! Danielle worries that Bree is going to take him back, and she's not fooled by her mother's smile. Later, while at the park with Benjamin, Bree shows him a picture of a young Danielle eating a hot dog. She tells Benjamin that easting hot dogs makes little boys grow up big and strong. She gives him a hot dog but makes him promise not to tell his mother.
Gabrielle and Carlos consider selling their Aston Martin to a young, rich Middle Eastern couple. Gabrielle has a problem with how low Carlos is willing to price the car.
Episode 5-4
Someone attends an ornate luncheon; who's the guest of honor?
Mike and Susan attend Parents Night at MJ's school. MJ drew a picture of Susan and Jackson, and he informs his teacher that Jackson sometimes sleeps over.
Juanita sees Carlos and Gabrielle having sex, and they're forced to explain to their daughter what's going on. But when Juanita tells one of her friends at a play date, her friend's mom isn't happy about this. Carlos and Gabrielle sit down with the parents and talk things over. All is well til Carlos accidentally reveals to Juanita's friend the truth about Santa Claus.
Tom has formed a rock band with other middle aged men. He and a bandmate have a third guy audition to join the band.
Episode 5-13 (Episode 100)
Reaching episode 100 is considered a big deal. Based on past schedules it would seem likely that this would air in January, but with February sweeps being pushed into March this year, it's difficult to predict a winter scheduling pattern this time.
General season 5 spoilers
Bob and Lee will be back; they now have a 4 year old daughter.
Gabrielle will get her looks back after seven or eight episodes, for a hilarious reason.
Gabrielle's older daughter, Juanita, who was briefly seen in the 4th season finale, has been recast; she will now be played by Madison Delagarza.
Neal McDonough joins the show as a series regular. He's playing Dave, a white-collar resident who's married to Edie. Like Mike, Betty, Orson, and Katherine before him, Dave's at the center of the season's mystery. He's out for revenge. Mrs. McCluskey can see that something is off about Dave.
Toby the cat goes missing.
Season 5 will have 24 episodes.
In the first episodes back, expect to learn why Bree took Orson back.

Interesting. Wonder if it will help the show (as it did for "One Tree Hill") or hurt it (as it did for "seaQuest").
I haven't watched regularly since Season 2 (what a disappointment that was), and I feel I'm too far out of touch with Wisteria Lane to get the Season 3 and 4 DVDs to catch up. Having the fifth season be a
flash forward to five years is a nice way for me to get back into the series.

Hmm, I aint sure about this. Last season was so good, as was the previous one, i dont think they should've done this, but i guess they were in danger of losing viewers, as it gets repititive.
I'll still be watching.

Oh my goodness! I absolutely LOVE the new promo! Especially because it features music from my absolute FAVORITE artist, Madonna! Yep, that's Madonna's version of "Fever" from her
Erotica album! I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!!! The promo looks amazing! The women are smoking hot, and the scenes featuring Susan's new man, played by the EXTREMELY SEXY Gale Harold, have me needing to take a cold shower! I can't wait for the new season to start!
Just for kicks, here is the video for "Fever" by Madonna:

That song is such a classic - almost as good as the original (no matter how brilliant Madonna is she can't beat the fabulous Peggy Lee original

) It goes perfectly - did you know that alot of people do not like this year's promo? I don't know why

I think it's awesome - so fresh and natural and, actually now that I think about it it promotes the 5 year jump; a clean slate for the writers to start fresh. In fact it's probably the best Desperate Housewives promo with it's underlining message symbolizing a new start!

Yeah, I didn't really like it either. The past few years, I've looked forward to Desperate Housewives' promos, but this one is really boring. They don't do anything except show them looking "hot." What about season 3's blood-stained white laundry or season 4's dark, mysterious atmosphere? Yeah, this one's really underwhelming. I hope that's not a sign of the season itself.

Well they can't exactly do much with the promos considering it's 5 years in the future. I mean they dont wanna wreck the story, and it's easier just making them look hot, and letting the mystery of it being in a different time suck the viewers in.
Besides we wont get to see Eva looking hot this season, we may all well enjoy these promos!

Actually, isn't Gabby's "subplot" this season about regaining her life and becoming her old self?

Three really exciting ABC episode one promos:

Well, what do you think? The car crash looks really intense, and there is a rumour circulating that
Mike aciidentally killed someone (possibly Julie) which is why Susan is now with Gale Harold
Plus, have you seen how stunning Marcia Cross looks when she says "Turn off the damn camera"

- she seems to have gotten younger in five years, lol
This season looks to be the best one yet!

Does anyone know what Bree's holding on the cover? Is it a rope, a wire, a whip, etc.? Anyway, I like how Gabrielle's got a shattered mirror. And the promotional image is gorgeous though Eva Longoria looks weird in pants.
Edie's strange--I thought she was leaving so that she could "change?" Anyway, the more I see, the more I think Lynette and Gabrielle will be the most interesting this season. Which is nice, considering Gabrielle's storyline thus far has kind of been, "I'm a selfish tramp," so it's nice to see something new going on with her.
And I hope Julie doesn't die in the car crash. She's the only character in Susan's entire storyline that I like. I wonder if Susan's the one who was driving the car. If so, she's a really bad driver (not that that's surprising). She hit Edie in the second season and sunk her car in the third.

I think it's a rope. All the items that the housewives are holding on the promo poster ties in with their plots this season. Gabby is holding a shattered mirror signifying losing her shape and her old, fashionable self while Lynette holding handcuffs signifies the problems her children are having with the police. Now, what could we speculate for the rest of the housewives?

I hope they won't kill Julie too. It is an awful way to cut her out of the series.

LOL I just saw it and I like it but none can beat the season 4 promo. That was the best ever.
