Wow! I didn't know Cool Runnings was being released to BD. Cool!
I have all the current Blu-Ray releases by Disney except: The Game Plan, High School Musical 2, The Rookie, and Roving Mars. I have the former two on standard DVD and I don't have the latter two at all.

Can't wait to buy Sleeping Beauty on blu, though not the best disney movie but it will look visually stunning in HD
Out of all the blu-rays I own, disney and non disney I believe that you cannot beat Pirates of the Caribbean for picture quality!

Both 1 & 2 are amazing to look at (although Dead Man's Chest was abit naff I can't stop looking at it, lol)
Ratatouille is also a wonder on the eyes, in some places it is so detailed it's overwhelming!

Australia has High School Musical Encore Edition out on Blu-ray on 15th October (same time as they get HSM2 Blu).

EzyDVD indicates that it will be widescreen, not 4:3. Let's hope so,
as it definitely looks better wide.

The Haunted Mansion is also out on Blu-ray.
Anybody care to guess when will start seeing older Disney live action films (besides Mary Poppins) on Blu?

Granted, they're not "Disney"-branded products of the Walt Disney Studios, but they're all produced or theatrically distributed by Disney-owned entities (Miramax, Touchstone) and the Blu-rays are all issued by Disney's home entertainment division.

This question has probably already been addressed before, but can you play Blu-Rays on a DVD player?

no.

You can, however, play DVDs on a Blu-Ray player - so if you upgrade to Blu-Ray your old collection of DVDs are still very much usable and even are converted to an even better picture resolution when you play them in the Blu-Ray player.

I guess I'll wait until Christmas...

It's still so much to upgrade though.

I want the prices to go DOWN! you can get DVD's now for 5 to 10 bucks!

You can also get Blu-Rays that have been out for a year+ for less than $15 on Amazon.com. I've never seen new releases on standard DVD for less than $15. Older titles, yes.
I say it's worth paying the difference. Especially for Disney titles.

I don't have an HD TV though so would it still work the blu-ray picture?

Your Blu-Ray player will still work. But it won't show on your tv in high-def. The prices of HDTVs have dropped dramatically over the past year. Eventually they will drop even further. Inevitably, everyone will have to get an HDTV at some point because that will be all there is to choose from!

Disney will be bringing both High School Musical and High School Musical 2 to Blu-ray this Fall. High School Musical 2 will be Disney's first re-release on the Blu-ray format, in the new 2-disc deluxe dance edition. High School Musical will come in the Remix edition. Release date is expected to be October 21st, although subject to change until an official announcement.

I bought my first Blu-Ray last week, the Hannah Montana concert movie. I don't even own a Blu-Ray player yet, and I'm not even much of a Hannah fan, but I don't want to fall behind anymore than I already have with the Blu-Rays, and I am fascinated by the idea of 3D in Blu-Ray. So, I'm going to save up, and hopefully I can get a Blu-Ray player (preferably a PS3) by the end of September. However, I don't have an HDTV yet and that will take MUCH longer for me to save up enough money for.
Tomorrow I intend to get Little Mermaid (in regular DVD, I was hoping and expecting it to be Blu-Ray too, but just found out it won't be) and the Blu-Ray of Nightmare Before Christmas.
