Just letting everyone know.
What I don't understand is how come all the other platinums came on televsion (ABC or Disney Channel) except "The Little Mermaid," "The Jungle Book," and "One Hundred and One Dlamatians." I don't remember, but I don't think "Lady and the Tramp" came on either.

The Philadelphia Story (1940) is on TVO at the same time. I suggest everybody who can to watch that instead.

You left out the best part -- Raven is hosting and there will be a sneak peek at the new Tinker Bell movie!

Hmm...is Aaron implying something...

Now consider that there were no new sequels or spin-offs (or first-time-on-DVD releases for the previously released sequels) for those other platinum movies released between their platinum releases and now*, and I think that you've got your answer.

yes, I know that there's the Little Mermaid prequel coming out soon...but still, it's the only exception to the rule and it could come on TV soon enough...

But "The Jungle Book 2" is out now, and "101 Dalmatians II" is coming out soon...

The Jungle Book 2 and
101 Dalmatians II were first released on DVD a good five or so years ago.

I caught part of the "Tinker Bell" preview and I have to say I was not impressed. I was excited for this DVD when I first heard about it and the stills looked great. But each time I've seen clips from it, I've been disappointed. I would have preferred that Tinker Bell didn't speak, plus the fairies' facial expressions looked too "plastic". (I loved the little bird, though). Hopefully my inital impressions are wrong and I'll like the film--though right now I think I'll wait for the review before purchasing.
Back on topic, though, I thought "Peter Pan" looked great and I enjoyed watching it.

Did anyone manage to record it from ABC HD? That might be just as good as a future Blu-Ray release.
And if anyone did, I want a copy! (like .ts or something)
I would have recorded it off the normal one, but my sisters were making me record Hannah Montana's concert... we only have one DVD recorder. I don't even have HD.

Gotcha. I understand what you mean now, but I was just meaning that it'd be good promotion for the new DVDs.

I saw it in HD, but honestly, the Platinum looked better.

So you think it was just upscaled?
I hope they preserved the 4:3 aspect ratio and didn't tilt-and-scan it like they're known to?

Wow, Peter Pan was on TV? I don't think that has ever been on TV in the UK. In fact, I think the only animated classic that's been on tv (other than on the Disney channel) is Alice in Wonderland. Oh, and The Three Caballeros, but that's a bit cack so it doesn't count.

Peter Pan was listed as a PG-13 movie according to my TV.
For language!
I guess you shouldn't say cod fish!

As far as I'm aware,
Dumbo, Robin Hood, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Home on the Range, Fun and Fancy Free, Melody Time and
The Sword in the Stone have definitely been on terrestrial TV in the UK during my lifetime (it's sad that I actually have a precise list

)

Oh aye, I remember Dumbo being on. Don't recall seeing Robin Hood though...
I cam imagine Hunchback and Mulan were on because theyre moderny type ones, and then F&FF and MT are in the same bracket of woe as Caballeros, but the true 'Classics' like Snow White, Pinochio, Bambi, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty etc etc all the way up to Pocahontas, they're never ever on.
Apart from Dumbo and Alice. And Robin Hood apparently.

I think the TV rating was TV-PG, L, V. So it was PG for/with language and violence. I wondered why it was rated that way the last time it was on TV and I'm still wonderin' today.

Really? All the tvs in my house said Peter Pan was "TV G."
I remember a long time ago when TLM was re-released, it came on ABC. Then I think Snow White came on when its platinum came out. Then Beauty and the Beast came on ABC (I remember it was rated PG). Lion King came on ABC, then I don't remember where Aladdin came on, but I remember it was on tv (it's been on Toon Disney twice this month). Bambi came on ABC. Cinderella came on Disney channel (but in March 2002, it came on ABC as a "March of Princesses" event they had on ABC. I remember them advertising it as its first time on being on any tv stations). I think Lady and the Tramp came on ABC, but then that's it.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I know you guys will

) but I don't think Snow White has ever been shown in its entirety either on ABC, Disney channel or ToonDisney. Am I right? It's considered the crown jewel in Disney animation or at least, Disney used to say it was...Have all the other features been broadcast on at least some channel?

I don't know about its prospects of being shown on tv, but Disney used to use the same argument (the crown jewel of animation, etc.) about Snow White in regard to it not being released on home video. Then they released it on VHS.
