Fantasmic Pre-Show Music

I meant to ask after we got back from our recent trip to Florida. When we went to get our seats for Fantasmic, there was music playing on the sound system of Disney cover songs. I didn't really notice until they played a rock/pop/almost techno cover song of "Topsy Turvy" (Hunchback of Notre Dame). I LOVE Disney covers and its exciting for me to hear one I haven't heard of yet, especially if it's recent and mainstream, like at Walt Disney World. At the end of the show as we were exiting, I asked some cast members if the pre-show music was from an album. One wasn't sure and the other said she definitely knew it was a CD, but wasn't sure what it was called. She said the cover had Mouse Ears. I don't know if that's true or if she's thinking of something else or if there is another Disney cover album.

I found this blog of obscure Disney cover songs, but Topsy Turvy wasn't listed.

Does anyone know if there is another recent Disney Cover album out there?

These albums possibly could've been played as the preshow, but definitely weren't:
Disneymania 1 - 6
Disney's Music From the Parks
Disney Wishes!
Eurobeat Disney
Simply Mad About the Mouse

I know there's a lot more cover albums out there, so does anyone know of lesser known ones this could possibly be? I wish I had an audio sample, but I can't find one, hence this topic.

Thanks! :)

Kram,

It looks like it might be this one:

I have heard the song you are referring to many times. Unfortunately, there are no sound clips for this apparently out-of-print CD at Amazon, but one of the reviewers mentioned hearing many of the songs on the disc during the Fantasmic pre-show.

Speaking of which, Disney has announced internally that Fantasmic will be performed just two nights a week, one show each night, during non-peak seasons after next Christmas season beginning in January 2009. Speculation ranges from the slow economy to Disney not wanting the show to compete with the "finale show" of the new American Idol attraction.

I hope bookings pick up and they have a change of heart, because, in my experience, even in the "slow season", the show still usually fills up when there is just one show a night. Going to 2 nights a week would put insane demand on those performances, with many people who want to see the show on their vacation not getting a chance to.

AHHH!!! You're awesome, David S.!! I'm pretty sure that's it! Mystery solved! Thank you so much for that link. It's a shame that that CD is out of print. I actually have some mp3s of these Disney techno dance songs (Beauty and the Beast, Kiss the Girl, and Colors of the Wind) from a friend and now I wish I had the rest of the album. Hopefully I'll find it used somewhere.
