Second traditionally animated Disney film in the works!

I don't know if this was posted already, but I couldn't find it.
Here is the article with the
wonderful news!
According to several folks who attended last month's "A Conversation with Disney's Mark Zoradi" presentation at the 2007 Heartland Film Festival, the president of the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group -- while he was talking up upcoming Mouse House releases like "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," "WALL * E" and "Bolt" -- may have dropped a bit of a bombshell. In that, while Zoradi was talking about other projects that Disney had in its development pipeline, Mark reportedly let slip that WDAS already had a second traditionally animated film in the works.
Wait. It gets better. A JHM representative who was attending this same event then quizzed a Disney publicist about Zoradi's comments. That publicist (who asked not to be identified) confirmed that such a project is in fact in the works. And this yet-to-be-named movie could be hitting a theater near you sometime in 2010, more likely 2011.
Just to clarify here: We're talking about a traditionally animated film in addition to "The Princess and the Frog," that John Musker / Ron Clements production that's currently due to be released in 2009. And -- no -- we're not confusing this movie with Glen Keane & Dean Wellins' "Rapunzel," which is still slated for 2010.

This is great news!
Though there seemed to be no mention of King of the Elves, which was also expected to be released around 2012, after this reported film...

Thats really great news!!!! Iv always said it wasnt that the hand drawn animation was the problem...it was the stories. If they can get a good story together and tell it well they will have no problem generating a hit in the classic disney animation format.
What is this movie you are talking about with the Elves? Iv been away from the forum for a while and im sure have alot to get caught up on...

I'm pretty sure they're not talking about "King of the Elves," as the info. that came in the Disney Update said it was to be Disney 3D/Digital. And that's fine for me, because KotE sounds like a horrible movie waiting to happen.
Anyway, it's nice to know they have another one in the works, as I'm getting a bad vibe with TP&TF at this point. That one's really a wild card--it could do really well or totally bomb.

Good news. I hope Disney keeps this up. Ideally, I'd really like to see Disney release all their films as traditional 2D films, and let all the 3D computer animated films be for Pixar.

Thank you so much! Sounds really interesting! I was kinda hoping tho it would be a movie set in Ireland! Iv always thought that a Disney Animated movie set in Ireland or Scottland would be neat....with a cool Celtic soundtrack.

hooray, more 2-D. im not too thrilled about the king of elves one though, im not much into elf stories, but ill definitely give it a chance.
The Bear and the Bow is going to be Pixar is it not?
I'm really hoping the princess and the frog will be a smash, all in classic traditional disney magic. i dunno if this is gunna make sense, but i wanna feel that feeling again. like the feeling of when i first saw aladdin or beauty and the beast and was just amazed along with all those other classic disney movies.

I have a feeling Rapunzel is going to come off as more of a "classic" than The Princess and the Frog.
The ways they are being advertised in press releases support this: the jazzy 1920's new orleans vs. "We should not be embarrassed or make excuses for doing a fairy tale"
ps. I have real high hopes for King of the Elves. I mean it was written by the same author of Paycheck and Minority Report. And although they weren't the best stories, they tell us that Philip K. Dick isn't your typical fantasy writer.

Both King of the Elves and Bear and the Bow look interesting to me. The first one because it's a Disney version of a Philip K. Dick story, and I am curious to find out how that's going to look.
The second because it's going to be Pixar's first fairy tale, and it could turn out as a real epic film (if done correctly).
It's nice to see both Disney and Pixar trying different styles than what they normally would do.

that sounds great! its a wonder it took them this long to realize the things that come to mind when you say "Disney" are movies like cinderella, peter pan, aladdin etc.... all of which are featured animation musicals
i wish they would give Menken a new movie to score. he would have done a fantastic job on Rapunzel but it looks like that score is going to someone else (according to wiki)

I thought he was left out of The Princess and the Frog because he was doing two films at a time, which would be too much. Since Randy Newman is doing that film, Alan Menken is still scoring Rapunzel, I think.

I hope they never stop doing traditionally animated movies. No matter how nice CGI can be, it doesn't beat hand drawn IMO. Also hope it's another fairytale, I miss those!
