All of your Studio Ghibli questions should be answered here:

I heard Porco Rosso and Nausicaa are being prepped for April-May DVD releases by Disney this year, along with possibly My Neighbor Totoro (which would have a different dub than the fox one as well as a new transfer).

Disney doesn´t produce ANY of the Ghibli films - they just distribute them to DVD (and sometimes cinema) in the states!

Chernabog, don't Buena Vista Japan have some financial holding in Studio Ghibli? Or did they just sign a long term contract to distribute the films?

As far as I know - only distribution!

I've never heard anything about Disney and "Porco Rose", but I do remember hearinng Disney had rights to "Nausica and the Valley of the Wind," on of my favorite Ghibli films. I hope it dosen't take them as long as "Castle In The Sky" took to get released. (you may recall that the first preview was on the 1st VHS release of "Kiki's Delivery Service," but was not released untill last year when "Spirited Away" and "Kiki" were released on DVD.)

You are right - and they only have exclusive distribution rights.
Another company released Spirited Away in Australia (Madman), and it had MOST of the supplements, but not the Disney ones (e.g. the Lasseter intro, Disney BTS stuff).
I also believe Madman has acquired the rights for the distribution of the following in R4 for this year: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
Laputa: The Castle in the Sky (1986); My Neighbour Totoro (1988); Kiki's Delivery Service (1989); Only Yesterday (1991); Porco Rosso (1992); Pom Poko (1994); Whisper of the Heart (1995); My Neighbours the Yamadas (1999); The Cat Returns (2002).
So in other words - yeah, Disney only distributes, and ONLY in certain territories...
