Brother Bear character names?

Hey all -

Lately I've had this annoying nag at the back of head that won't go away - the names of several of the side characters in Brother Bear. O_o

I remember seeing scans of the "Disney Adventures" Sep. 2003 issue that profiled some of the characters, including a few of the Salmon Run bears. They had proper names in the magazine - but generic descriptions in the official movie credits (i.e. Old Lady Bear).

The only one I'm kinda sure of is Mabel, the "Old Lady Bear" that pines for her "dead" husband Edgar. I know the two "lover" bears had names (I think the female's is Buttercup), and what about the two rams? I've heard someone claim their names are Cliff and Rock, but I dunno where those came from. :P I've Googled this info until my fingers bled, with no luck. :(

So anyway, if any of ya get the DA magazine (and still have the September issue), could you check? Anyone else who knows this info - please share!! Being the obsessive-compulsive freak that I am, it naturally is driving me nuts! Please help so I can get to sleep tonight!

Looks like you'll have to go see it again! Stay threw the end credits and you will see an extra scene explaining the Salmon Slaughter, too!

Uh - my point is, the names aren't mentioned in the film, nor the credits. Just in that DA magazine, to my knowledge. *shrug*
I already saw the film twice at the theatre, and stayed through the credits both times. Thought I'd re-examine it one more time, but nope. Film was just as weak, and the end credit jokes were just as lame.

I'm still annoyed about those names, though. Maybe they'll be mentioned somewhere on the dvd... Yes, I'm buying the dvd, like a good little Disney whore. ;)
Had to have one unconditional weakness, and that is the animated features on dvd. If they're worth it. And this is a 2-disc set Lite, so it's good enough for me. :P

You can't find the movie to be that weak and lame!

You went to see it twice and stayed for the credits each time.

You are seeking the names of the obscure characters, that's something not even those of us who admitted to liking it are doing.

AND you are planning on buying the DVD.

You liked it, just admit it. It's okay, we are all here for you.

Sorry, babe. Didn't like it. :P

What I said before was true. I'm a whore for Disney animated features - I even bought the piddly 1-discer of Treasure Planet last year just 'cause it was a Disney 'toon film (and it was the best edition we can hope for - at least for a long time). Didn't like the movie that much, but I bought it anyway. Same thing with Atlantis and DINOSAUR - just 'cause they had kickass Collector's Editions. I'll be buying the Pocahontas "Masterpiece Edition" just 'cause it's a 2-disc set - even though I'm not that hot for the film.

So those are my 2 biggest weaknesses when it comes to dvd - Disney's "full-length animated features", 'cause it's a tradition, and 2(or more)-disc sets - 'cause the extras are endearing. Put the 2 together and it's a lethal combo.

As for the obscure character names - it goes with my obsessive-compulsive nature. It's easier calling a character by their proper name (i.e. "Diablo" instead of "Maleficant's crow") - and I'm sure it also gives some sort of subconcious ego boost to know esoteric facts like that, however lame it may seem to others. :D

Sorry babe, I was just giving you a hard time, I'll stop, I see you are getting annoyed, lol. Although, after seeing this statement of yours on another thread:

"There's this Spirit fan forum I go to every once in a while; I'm not sure why - I don't like the film, and the 12-year-olds around there bug the hell out of me."

I am starting to see a pattern here...

I knew you'd prolly catch that Spirit bit in there. Would it interest you to know that I have the soundtracks to both the films, as well? And the Spirit Breyer model? Hoping to get the Rain one in the future?

Heh - seriously, though - I dunno what's up with me and these films. 'Cause I truly do not like them as a whole - but there are pieces I can appreciate. Like the Bible.
But this ambivalent behavior eludes even me. It truly is a love-hate relationship going on, there. It may have something to do with the fact that they're animal flicks - I've always loved the animated critter flicks the most since before I can remember. The only reason I watched Cinderella fairly frequently as a kid was because of the mice's antics - torturing Lucifer and whatnot. :D
Concurrently, they're the ones I'm the most critical of. My animated critter flick expectations are insanely high - 'specially when it comes to Disney. So don't mind me if I blast Home on the Range in a few months.

Oy... animal flicks - add that to my list of penchants...

Edit : I was right , it is Bo and Nooki . and the russian Bear is Igor and according to the magazine the really old Bear is Mapel (not Mable) *shrugs

"Mapel", with a "P"? O_o

But Bo and Nooki caught me off guard, for sure. Didn't remember those at all. I also read today (I'm sure you know where ;) ) that the rams' names come from the "How to Draw Brother Bear" book (I just wonder which is which?).
It's not really that uncommon to find character names from the official Disney books or other material, but it sure is frustrating hunting it down. *gag*

and it's Mapel according to the magazine *shrugs*
