From Disney Editions and the Disney History blog:
Disney's Neglected Prince: The Art of Disney's Knights in Shining Armor (and Loincloths)
No zeros, all heroes—it’s the boys’ turn to shine!
From the Prince who is Charming, to the Prince who began as a “diamond in the rough,” to the Lord of the Jungle, and to the many princes whose kiss led to a happily ever after, the Disney princes are often neglected in favor of their female counterparts.
Disney's Neglected Prince is a hard cover “Art of” book that focuses on the guys, whether they rule from a castle, a forest, or a mountaintop, or just marry well. The roster includes royal favorites such as Princes Phillip, Eric, and the Beast; royalty from other realms including Hercules, John Smith and Li Shang; and the latest to ascend to the throne—Prince Edward from the upcoming Disney feature Enchanted and the Prince from The Princess and the Frog. Rare and rarely seen visual development art from The Walt Disney Feature Animation Studio will give Disney fans an opportunity to enjoy these hand-drawn hunks in a whole new way.
Disney's Neglected Prince is 9 x 11 in size, 128 pages, available in April 2009.

You bet I am! I think this book is long overdue, and I'm so excited to hear they're actually releasing something like this. I'm looking forward to what kind of sketches they might underneath, especially of Phillip and Herc.

Yes, this is wonderful, and I had wanted to tell Tim but forgot...
BUT WHY are they releasing this before they can fit in information and concept art from Rapunzel?! The princes have been neglected for so long, why not wait one or two more years to add info on a classic, traditional, fairy tale prince returning to the screen, one we've been waiting so long for? Will they release a new edition updated with this prince later?
Because HERE'S the thing - after Rapunzel, there probably won't be any princes for a while. So who knows when the book would get updated. It's common sense! Wait until they can get something on Rapunzel's prince!

It's a shame, but I think it cannot really be avoided that as soon as an art book on Disney movies appears, it's already dated.
I long for an update of 'The Disney Villain', (goes no further than Jafar) but alas, since the original writers are no longer among us, the chance for this to happen is slim.

That would have been wonderful, and an updated edition of the Encyclopedia of Walt Disney's Animated Characters that goes beyond Hercules would be nice (I have the one that goes up until Aladdin).

Cool, I'm buying this too.
I hope they show us more of the mysterious prince from Snow White.

I'm buying, though I have to agree with Disney Duster on Rapunzel's prince.

I think it's pretty safe to assume so since Disney Editions confirmed it, and Amazon now has it available for preorder for April 25.

But... why?.
The Disney Princesses never got a "Art of" book, they should release these kind of books for the films and all the characters.

That's why it's called "The Neglected Prince." There has been next to nothing about anything Princes, since...forever.
I think this idea is better than a princess one.

I completely agree. There's already numerous books out there about the princesses where they are the main focus, but hardly anything on the princes or male heroes. I think it's about time that the princes got the recognition and spotlight they deserved for a while.

They already have. There's been "The Art Of..." books on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin. Not to mention books like The Art And Flair Of Mary Blair and Before The Animation Begins: Disney Sketch Artists which has numerous pieces of art and concept sketches for Cinderella by Mary Blair and for Sleeping Beauty by Eyvind Earle.

Well, the Princes have dolls with the Princesses and male heroes like Peter Pan and Hercules have toys but I guess that they want to change for a bit from Princesses and Villains who get merchandise all the time.
About the Art Of books:
But that's from the movies, they Princes and male heroes can get books like that too,It's not a whole books about the Princesses themselfs.

Ariel'sprince, I highly doubt that anyone on this forum cares whether or not princes have dolls.
