The Great Mouse Detective, Laserdisc?

Just wondering if anyone here has or has seen The Great Mouse detective's laserdisc.

The reason I ask is this is one of those films that doesn't appear to have been released in its original form on home video. Both VHS releases (I know there is a third... that's essentially the DVD's master though) along with the DVD have the newer "The Adventures of the Great Mouse Detective" title card from 1991, instead of what was shown in theaters originally in 1986.

The laserdisc, while it is only pan-and-scan, has an older font, unlike the VHS/DVD releases. Link

Can someone tell me if it has the original title card, or if it's the same as a VHS?

I would just buy it to check myself, but I don't want to waste $10 if it's the same transfer of an earlier VHS... since I recorded both VHS tapes.

Based on the cover art, I'd say it's the same as the original VHS. I know the laserdisc for the film was released just a few months or weeks after the VHS and since that as the retitled logo this probably does too.

The UK DVD has the original title, for that country, which was "Basil - The Great Mouse Detective". I too would like to see the original US title.

Well, the question is, how similar is the UK version to the original?

I have this screenshot taken from a preview on the 1999 VHS about "greatmouse.com":

Is that anywhere close to the original title card? Or just something made for that preview?

The original VHS I got had no artwork on it (rental copy) so I wasn't sure what it looked like. Is it the same cover as the VHS?

I know it was released at the same time - but look at movies like Bambi and Cinderella. Their Masterpiece laserdiscs got RKO bumpers and the VHSes didn't.

I don't know if any vhs/laserdisc release has the original title cards.

One thing I could suggest, though, if the laserdisc comes up empty is to check ebay for 16mm and 35mm prints of the film. I've started collecting some 35mm Disney stuff and a local video production company can transfer them to DVD (just check your local yellow pages). Now, I'm collecting some older stuff so the quality isn't DVD quality.....I mean....it would be noticed if spliced in. But I know you're working on a project, and it might help to widen your resources...you know? In case you run in to any brick walls trying to put it all back together.
