Because Disney's been too busy overpromoting those gorram Disney Channel Games, Camp Rock, The Cheetah Girls: One World, etc.

I shudder to think how the Muppets will be handled in this special. I'm glad that Disney's actually doing stuff with them again, but *this* sounds like a quickly-thought-out attempt at bridginging the generation gap by having young pop stars and tween actors rubbing elbows with established entertainment icons. Not that it's a bad thing, but knowing the Disney Channel, it seems like it'll be more a Showcase of the Disney Channel stars, with the Muppets as mere guest stars.

And Tisdale & Kermit singing "Bop to the Top"? As interesting as that sounds, I think I'd prefer if he sang "The Rainbow Connection" with Lucas Grabeel. It'd be Justin Timberlake's SNL all over again. :P

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: Growing up, the two shows I never missed were.. "Saturday Night Live".. and "The Muppet Show". So, if you don't mind, there's another dream I've always had, and that's to sing.. with Kermit the Frog.

[ Kermit the Frog appears atop the brick wall ]

Hello, Kermit.

Kermit: <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas, I'd be honored to sing with you.

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: Well, I just figured.. when's the next time you're gonna have a chance, right?

Kermit: Well, uh.. what shall we sing?

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: I've already got it picked out.

[ <strike>SNL Band</strike> Disney Channel Band accompanies the duo by playing "The Rainbow Connection" ]

Kermit: Awww.. this is a nice one!

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: [ singing ]
"Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows?
And what's on the other side."

Kermit: [ singing ]
"Rainbows are visions
But only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide."

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: [ singing ]
"So we've been told
And some choose to believe."

Kermit: [ singing ] "I know they're wrong, wait and see."

Together:
"Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me."

Kermit: You're a very good singer, <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas.

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: You're not so bad yourself, Kermit.

Kermit: Maybe you and me should cut an album! [ laughs ]

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: [ singing ]
"Who says that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on a morning star."

[ <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas leans in too close to Kermit ]

Kermit: Ow!

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: Sorry..

Kermit: Careful, <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas - you stepped on my buddy's leg there!

[ singing ]

"Somebody thought of that
And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far."

[ <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas leans in too close again ]

Ow!!

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: Sorry!

Kermit: I've been telling you all week!!

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: [ singing ]
"What's so amazing
That keeps us star-gazing?"

Kermit: "And what do we think we might see?"

[ <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas has again gotten too close to Kermit ]

Seriously! BACK OFF!!

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: Is this any better? [ reaches behind the brick wall and kicks Kermit's puppeteer ]

Kermit: Ow! Ow! Ow!

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: [ yelling ] Yeah, you like that, don't you, Kermit?!

[ in the mad scuffle, <strike>Timberlake</strike> Lucas kicks down the brick wall to reveal Kermit's puppeteer sprawled across the floor in pain. He continues to speak to <strike>Timberlake</strike> Lucas through Kermit. ]

Kermit: Guys! Guys! Stop fighting! This song is about togetherness!

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: He's right..

Kermit: Bill? Can you say to <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas that you're sorry for shoving him?

Bill: [ meekly ] I'm sorry, <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas..

Kermit: And, <strike>Justin</strike> Lucas? Can you say you're sorry to Bill for being a d********?

<strike>Justin Timberlake</strike> Lucas Grabeel: I am not.. a d********..

Kermit: [ singing ]
"Someday we'll find it The rainbow connection The lovers, the d********, and me."

[ angered, <strike>Timberlake</strike> Lucas continues to beat up Kermit's puppeteer ]

[ fade ]

Oh my gosh! This looks sooo awesome! As a life-time fan of the Muppets, and a recent big fan of Disney Channel (I just started watching a couple years ago, before Hannah Montana was friggin HUGE, y'know when it first started out) I really can't wait for this.

We were watching Horatio Hornblower: The Wrong War tonight, and I totally forgot about this special.

Thankfully, I checked online and it was delayed to Sunday, August 3!

"Studio DC: Almost Live" Moves to August Premiere

As previously reported, The Muppets have teamed up with the Disney Channel stars for an all-new variety show special. "Studio DC: Almost Live!", originally slated for a July premiere, has since been rescheduled and is now set to make its bit debut on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 8:00pm ET/PT (check your local listings for details). The half-hour variety show will feature special appearances by Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale, Dylan & Cole Sprouse, Jonas Brothers, and (of course) the Muppets. The special will feature singing and dancing, comedy sketches and the backstage antics of the original Disney Channel variety show.

Highlights of the program include Miley Cyrus performing her hit song "GNO" with the help of the Electic Mayhem; Kermit the Frog and Ashley Tisdale performing "Bop to the Top" (from High School Musical); Miss Piggy's failing attempts to join Nick, Joe and Kevin for a musical number (posing as a long-lost Joanas Sister); Kermit and Gonzo join the cast of "The Suite Life" for a comedic skit; plus much more.

You won't want to miss this all-new musical extravaganza, as a second "Studio DC" special featuring the Muppets is already planned to air on Disney Channel sometime fall. So be sure to re-mark your calendars, and prepare for this brand-new Muppet show. I will be sure to keep you updated with more information on the premiere of this long-awaited television event as details become available.

Am I just misreading this? I feel like the way this paragraph is structured and concludes, it seems there is an implication that there was an old Disney Channel variety show that this new special is based on. Do they mean Mickey Mouse Club or Muppets Tonite or something else?

Hi, I was just wondering does anyone know if Studio DC: Almost Live! aired in Canada? If no, will it ever be aired and when? Also, do you think there might be a DVD release of this in the future like what they did for "Wish Gone Amiss" and "That's So Suite Life of Hannah Montana"

I doubt there will be a DVD release, as it's only a half an hour long.

I could see them adding it to the enevatable Muppet Tonight DVD or at least I hope so. :)

I taped this the night it was on, and I just watched it. I have mixed feelings. It wasn't as bad as "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz", but it was by no means the best Muppets entertainment. I'm glad that the Muppets are being used, but it could've been better.

My favorite part was "Bop to the Top"- that was funny. And I liked the Muppets with the round mouths during "G.N.O.".

Kevin Jonas looked hot, though!

it was kind of.. like.. not good.
that's the most dead laugh track i've EVER heard. they've overused laugh track for everything else on disney channel, why not this? would have made the awkwardness less awkward.

i only watched part of it, but that was quite enough.

I wouldn't mind all the teeny bopper Disney Channel stuff if Disney didn't act like that was all there was to "Disney" now. It's awesome that they've acquired the Muppets, but I hope this isn't the only way they're going to use them. I think they are just trying to get their Disney Channel audience interested in them before their next movie though, but it's just a shame they have to weave High School musical and stuff like that into EVERYTHING. And it's really, REALLY annoying too.

Wait, did this already air? If it did then I missed it. Does anyone know if it will air again, or if anyone has any clips of it online?

Chris, it aired last Sunday, but reruns a lot, so you'll most likely catch it at one point or another.
