Another pointless re-release from Disney:

OK it has new stuff, but only 14 songs, a new song and some gubbins (an interactive election tracker of all things - so basically a blank poster with some boxes on). Meanwhile for the same price you can get the proper 2 disc Schoolhouse Rock collection.
I really don't know what to think. I guess it will get a slipcover. I guess like Sword in the Stone, that makes it "good".

Wasn't there already a DVD of Schoolhouse Rock with all the songs?

Oh, man.

Now I know I'm going to have to buy it for the new song and I already have the 2 disc DVD. I'm just that obsessed. I'll tell myself I won't buy it, but I know I will in the end.

That's our <strike>Smithers</strike> Brendan!
Disney, if you wanna cash in on the 2008 election and release something that's actually tied to it, why not spruce up your DVD for
The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band? Give it a better restoration/remastering, put it in OAR, add a few more features (trailers, deleted scenes, rehearsal footage, more featurettes/interviews) to the existing ones (commentary, "Family Band Album" featurette), and voila, perfect tie-in to "entertainment that gets people to vote!".

Does anyone also find it a bit peculiar/distasteful that Disney is essentially trying to cash in on a serious political event? What with it being dubbed "Election Collection" and coming before you Yanks take to the polls to choose the most powerful man in the world for the next four years? :-s

It's a business, they'll cash in on anything*.

Let's not forget the new "Election Year Edition" of
Nixon (via Disney's Hollywood Pictures) that comes out in August, as well as Warner's
JFK: Ultimate Collector's Edition that's coming in the fall.

*Well, almost anything. Why haven't they gone and given us a three-disc Special Collector's Edition of
The Rocketeer to cash in on the big superhero movies that came in the past few years???

You missed 'You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown: Deluxe Edition' from Warner this fall.

True. I guess I can't catch 'em all, no matter what Pokemon says...
Hmm...I wonder if Fox will release a Special Edition of
Bulworth...
And maybe Warner can give
Dave a Deluxe Edition as well...
