Anyone else remember this show besides me?

:D I remember the show. They showed classic Disney cartoon shorts.I believe it aired on the disney channel. That's when the Disney channel was Disney's Channel.

I actually do remember the show, this was before my time, and "The Mouse Factory" ran from 1972 until 1973 and it lasted just one season. They also have the LP, but I used to have it since I was a kid, there was one track for this album was "Minnie's Yoo-Hoo" which I have it here.

I'll admit I did find the characters arriving for work and punching in at the beginning quite amusing.

This was a great show with a new celebrity host each episode. The series went for 2 seasons for a total of 41 or 43 episodes. I recall most of the hosts did 2 or more shows, and we could see the classic Disney cartoons. I loved trying to recognize all the characters punching in at the beginning of the episode.

If I recall, this show was created and directed by Ward Kimball.

This would make a great Disney Treasures DVD set!

I agree. This seemed like such a fun little series that doesn't get enough attention or recognition.

I even think that this series should make a comeback with new episodes.

I totally agree with you on that as well. Hope they release the series from the vault sooner than later.

Two seasons. Syndicated.

I remember watching the show on Saturday morning re-runs during the early 90's. A Treasures set would be fantastic--but wouldn't it cause us to double up on shorts featured on previous sets.

I don't really think so.

Most of the time, the classic animated footage shown on The Mouse Factory were basically either short clips or slightly abridged versions of shorts.

Of course, I've seen where some people get so amped up over repeatedly having the same cartoons over and over again on different Treasures. And that's pretty much what half the show is, Disney cartoons.

Though anthology shows like "The Wonderful World of Color" and "The Mouse Factory" use short cartoons from previous Treasures, they are re-presented in a new themed context that makes these shows original unto themselves (especially the Walt era Disneyland/Walt Disney Presents/WWoC episodes bridged with new, original animation, characters and overarching plotlines). These should be made available on DVD regardless of overlapping content. Sometimes the anthology presentation context (or revised narration) improves on the DVD chronological shorts presentation by creating a longer narrative viewing experience.

I agree, especially the shows with the animated characters in the presentational footage, like all the Ludwig shows, the Moby Duck show, the Chip n' Dale episode, the Jiminy episodes, Magic Mirror, etc... Definitely would like to see Carnival Time and that Moby Duck one, and the one with Mickey and the Beanstalk (Von Drake version) released, but I wouldn't mind getting shorts I already have again for any of these!

Anyway, as for Mouse Factory, yes, I loved that show as a kid, watching the reruns on Disney Channel. Though I know it wasn't a show created for the Disney Channel, it will always be a show that really represents the channel as it should be, to me. It was a very unique and purely Disney series, with the special element of using theme park costumed characters which made each episode like taking a trip to the theme parks for a little kid watching it back then.

In light of the recently-announced DuckTales reboot, and Boy Meets Work getting rebooted as Girl Meets World, I'd love to see The Mouse Factory get a reboot sometime in the future as well.

The only way I ever found out about this show was thru YouTube. It seemed like a precursor to the half-hour shorts compilations that would become mainstays on The Disney Channel.

One particularly cool segment was when Annette Funicello was hosting. I love how she plays her role so straight, even when the theme of this particular series called for more exaggerated acting.
