what kind of tv do you guys i was wondering since i was gana buy a new tv the one i want is 1,200 40inch 1080p so any thoughts on it? What i should look for in a new tv i would like 2 know how you guys in your enjoy ur disney dvds

You lost me at "what kind of tv do you guys". As far as I know, I've never been "done" by a TV before, though the thought of it would be rather...well, electrifying...

What kind of TV set do you guys have?
In my bedroom I've got a crappy 13-inch TV that doesn't get cable and still uses an oldschool antenna. But it's hooked up to my DVD player and that's all that I really use it for anyway.

In the family room we have a big-but-not-widescreen TV that's about 12 years old. That one has digital cable and a DVD player, along with an oldschool VCR.

So, what are your thoughts on it?
You'll have to ask one of our techie posters who know a heckuva lot more about the right kind of widescreen TVs than I do.

I want to know how you guys enjoy your Disney DVDs.
Same way everyone else enjoys them: I play them in a DVD player!

I mean, it's not like I stare at my DVD binder and admire the disc art on each and every DVD for seven hours minimum. Nor do I take the cases off the shelves and re-arrange them in nice pretty patterns, then take pictures and show them to people. And I certainly don't spread them all on the ground and roll around in them screaming "They're mine, they're all mine!!!"

Right now I have a old (got it in 1992 or 93 I can't remember) RCA 27 inch 4:3 SDTV. Great picture on SD material, but I've been planning to finally get a HDTV sometime this year. I'll probably move this TV to another room whenever I upgrade. Right now its hooked up to a Sony DVD player, Wii, Gamecube, a VCR that I'm planning to retire, and a Zenith Digital Converter box (Recently moved and haven't hooked up to cable yet).

I'm looking at a 37 inch, and it will probably be a 720p set mainly because of price and size. At first I was planning to get a 32 inch, but I fear that will be to small, plus the price difference from 32 to 37 isn't a lot more. I might could get by with a 42 inch, but I'm not sure. If some price drops happen before I pick one up I might get a 1080p set, but at the sizes I'm looking at its not a big concern.

I'll probably add a PS3 before I get the TV though. I've finally decided between the 360 and PS3. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

As far as your TV, what TV are you looking at? At 1,200 for a budget you might be better off getting a better quality 720p set instead of a 1080p one. How far back are you planning to sit from the TV? That will also determine if you will be able to see a difference in 720p and 1080p.

According to the chart below at 40 inches you would need to sit about 5 feet back from the TV to get the full benefit of 1080p.

In my room, I have a 20 in. Durabrand(which I believe is Wal-Mart brand...) TV that's about 3 years old. I have digital cable, a DVD/VCR, and sometimes a Super Nintendo hooked up to it. It's a good TV, but I would of course like to get a nice widescreen, HDTV someday. I'm really thinking about TIVO(it's not as expensive as I thought it would be) and a DVD recorder/VCR(because while TIVO sounds awesome, I'm sure there'd be some things I'd like to keep). It'll all come in time, though.

The one in my room is 13 inches and really old, but it works better than the fairly new one I have in the living room. I think it is 27 inch or 32 or something like that.

I don't have the best TVs in the world, but they get the job done. I'll be upgrading to a flat panel HD widescreen tv before year's end though.

Mine is old too

It's a 38" or 36" Sony, 4:3 and only support up to 480i

But, considering that there's only right now very few HD channels here in Mexico(only national tv) I'm not thinking n getting a full HD tv just to watch soap operas or national tv(perhaps for the soccer but definitely just when my cable company changes the digital signal for a HD one!)

It's about 32' inches...and heavy!!!

The one in our living room's a 60'' Hitachi HDTV (the really thick kind before thin plasmas and LCDs became more widely available). We've had it since 2004. My Dad wants to get rid of it and get a plasma or LCD to put up on the wall since this one takes up so much space. I, personally, love it, though. It's very forgiving of DVD flaws while still bringing out the best in transfers.

The one in my bedroom's a 26'' LG HD LCD (that's a lot of letters...) which I got for Christmas last year. The quality's very good, though I've noticed that reponse time is slightly behind (aka there's a tad bit of added motion blur at times). I'm still really happy with it, though. I can't wait to see how BDs look on this and the living room TV.

We also have a 4:3 LCD in my parent's bedroom, and standard 4:3 TVs in the spare room, kitchen, and back porch. We just need TVs in the bathrooms, and then every room will be covered...

I think I have either a 13 inch or a 14 inch that I got about 3 years ago. I am hoping to get an HDTV one day to replace it (Now that I have a PS3 that can play Blu-Rays).

I have a Westinghouse - 32" 720p Flat-Panel WIDESCREEN LCD HDTV

bought it in October of last year and LOVE IT.

Before the fire I had a very nice 56" JVC HDTV Monitor that was 1080i, and I loved it, but downstairs in the Home Theater, which is where I watch most of my movies I have an Optoma HD Projection system with a screen that measure just under 15 feet diagonally. It fully supports the 1080i HD movies and looks fabulous and it doesn't have to be in a totally darkened room. (The worst thing to do is watch movies or television in the dark, it will ruin your eyes.)

We have just ordered a 62" JVC HDTV Monitor to replace the one lost in the fire, and it will be delivered about the same day we move back into the house when repairs are finished.

I just purchased a 42" 1080p LCD Flat Panel HDTV by Insignia (Best Buy's brand). I'm in love with this new TV.

I saw this advertised this week for under $800 which is an amazing deal for a 42 1080p set.

I've been looking for a 37 inch for my bedroom around that price to replace my old 27 inch SDTV, but this Insignia tempted me a lot. I wished I had the money this week I would pick one up.

So it looks good? I haven't been by Best Buy to check out the Insignia brand.
