It is interesting. Hardly any of the DVD releases (Disney ones, that is) have the cardboard slipcases. Snow White was a double thick clear case, and Beauty and the Beast was a single case with a swinging arm for the second disc inside.

However, Nemo was released here with the shiny slipcover case. I hope this bodes well for future Disney releases here, as Pirates is something I am keen to own the "best" possible copy of, and I am waiting for the local release.

I think, like Beauty and the Beast, only inital pressings had them. It is a shame because it makes them look really good. I'd love it to complete my slip cover collection, but sadly there is no way of telling online and it is a lot of money to spend for not knowing. (The UK copy has a slipcover though, and very pretty one at that....although it doesn't "open like a book" ).

Seriously though, if anybody does spot a copy of Sleeping Beauty in the shops with the slip cover in good condition, please let me know as we might be able to work something out. Perhaps there is an Aussie exclusive I could pick up for that person in exchange?

I think this is a good bonus, I´m a designer and I always apresiate the pretty presentation stuff...

The only dvd I have with a Slipcover is Lion King, but now I ordered Alice, international releases don´t have any slipcover at all.

I'll put together a list for you, and I'll see what we can do A lot of the Australia exclusives might also be available in the UK too, but there is a groovy Winnie the Pooh lunchbox DVD set that nobody else has

Hmm, two friends of mine got the American "Sleeping Beauty" recently and it didn't come with the slip cover. I bought mine some time after it was released, and it came with the cardboard pack. But my UK "Sleeping Beauty" didn't come with it...

I recently (finally!) ordered the Collector's Edition of "A Bug's Life" (plus "Alice in Wonderland - ME") and I fear it won't come with the slip cover. Well, I will cross my fingers.

DVD's at Sam's Club don't come with slipcovers either

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Vista Series (whatever that is...) - Does not open like a book, but has same shiny, metallic effect. The actual DVD case is made to look like a leather diary with a lock. Inside, the chapter guide is made to look like a notepad. It also comes with "signed" photo headshot-like prints of Roger and Jessica Rabbit. Overall, a very cool DVD packaging as well as a very cool DVD (which includes three more Roger Rabbit shorts!!) of a very cool movie. SO whoever liked this movie and doesn't have the DVD, buy it! It's definitely worth it!

Hello all. I am new to this forum and am hoping you all can help me. I'm a big time DVD collector and am looking for some info. I am particularly fond of Disney/Pixar DVDs that come with cardboard slipcovers.

As far as I know, the following DVDs come with cardboard slipcovers:
1. Beauty and the Beast: Platinum Edition
2. The Lion King: Platinum Edition
3. Finding Nemo
4. A Bug's Life: Collector's Edition
5. Sleeping Beauty: Special Edition

Have I left any off the list? Also, I can't confirm whether Snow White: Platinum Edition or Monsters, Inc. originally had cardboard slipcovers. Please let me know if they did and if there are any other Disney/Pixar DVDs that have cardboard slipcovers.

I'm pretty sure those are it. My copy of Snow White and Monsters, Inc. did not have a cardboard slip cover. This is a new idea.

Pirates Of The Caribean also has a Cardboard Sleave on it.

Alice in Wonderland: Masterpiece Edition also has a slip cover.

I really like the cardboard slip cases but, the bad thing is, even if you are the most careful person, it starts getting old faster than you imagine.

I love the slip covers because they just make the DVD look nice and fancy. I'm lucky enough to have all of the ones produced so far, and the only one I think is rather uneeded is "A Bug's Life" - the amary case underneath has the exact same shiny effect and the exact same cover. It's pointless, whereas all the other slipcovers have something special about them.

Didn't the collector's edition of A Bug's Life have a slipcover on it?

I'm not sure if this counts, but the Toy Story BOX has a clear plastic slip cover with the characters on it from memory. But that is more of a box, rather than an individual release...
