Over 50: Snow White

30-50: Princess Aurora

30 and under: Ariel

I guess I'm in the minority. Despite my love for Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Snow White have been my favorite princesses, and I never really cared much for Ariel. And I'm only 21.

I'm only 21 and I love Cinderella, she's my favorite Princess, and I've always liked Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. But Cinderella's been this boy's fav Girl.

Forgive me if this seems a stupid question, but why are the princesses so popular with gay forum members here?

I mean surely logic would dictate it would be the princes that would grab their attention more?

Personally, I love both the Disney princes (as you can see in my signature) and Phillip is my favorite character and was my first crush as a young boy. I can't speak for everyone here (especially since I've only come out not that long ago), but I think it mainly has to do with the fact that many other gay men identify themselves with a lot of the princesses in the stories. Especially in Little Mermaid, where Ariel longs to be a part of a different world she finds fascinating, which her father suppresses. Many gay people feel that they're different and are longing to find their place like Ariel, despite parents or other elder's objections. Hence why I think that Ariel and the Little Mermaid tends to have the biggest following, since its storyline hits close to home for a lot of gay people. I know that feeling myself when I tried to suppress and hide being gay for so many years, being told by others that they thought it was wrong.

That, and the fact that the princess films are just beautifully animated films with very romantic themes and works of beautiful animation. I know I'm a very hopeless romantic person myself, hence why I love the earlier princess films, especially ones like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, and interested in just fairy tales in general. They simply have some connection that makes me love those kind of stories.

Because the Princes are merely supporting players (even objectives) in most of the fairy tales, while the heroines suffer, pine, sing, dance, dress-up, conquer their bitchy adversaries, experience dramatic happennings, fall in love and end up with a hot guy - - all for keeping a pure heart.

The identification factor is on the heroine.

I'm not a big fun of the princesses at all. None of them really appeal to me as characters.

Ursula on the other hand... I'd totally adopt her to be my fag-hag. I don't know why, but I'm drawn to big women with big attitude. They are fun.

Probably because we relate to them or we aspire to be like them or what they have (romance! ...with a "prince"!)... It's just like how we are attracted to pop icons such as Kylie Minogue, Madonna, and Britney Spears.

So I was thinking today: which Disney Princess would have the biggest gay fanbase? Women like Cher, Madonna, and Tyra Banks have them, so I figured Disney Princesses would have them too.

Also, I did not create this thread to start any fights, just for something new to talk about. Anyway, who do you think has a big fanbase? Once again, I don't think everyone who likes the Disney Princesses are gay!!

This is just about the Fab 6, and not about other princesses/heroines such as Eilonwy, Mulan, and Kida.

I think Ariel would have a huge gay fanbase.
