I called 'em up. Here's how it went:
ME: Hello, I was calling to inquire about why there have been an absense of inserts in the DVD packaging of some of your recent titles.
HER: What do you mean? (ME:

)
ME: The inserts - those little booklets in the DVD packaging. I was called to inquire about why they've been absent in some of your recent titles.
HER: Well . . . they've been discontinued because there's already a chapter listing on the DVDs.
ME: I see. Well, will they still be inside the major releases, like the Platinum Editions and such?
HER: Yes, they'll only be absent from the smaller titles.
There you have it.

Sounds like they are acting like it's no big deal.
Her: What do you mean??? ohhhh. took her a while to figure out what you were talking about and then proceeds to say that yes indeed they are in the platinum editions but not on the smaller titles....
well oh well....
depressing... they want to save money, but then again, when no one wants to buy because there are no inserts, they just drop the entire line....

Good to see the important issues have been resolved
Maybe now, Disney will concentrate on those little nagging complaints, that nobody really worries about - OAR on classics, censorship on classics and the release of said classics on a digital format.
And if we are lucky, they will all have inserts!
Actually, maybe they should just release inserts, and not the DVDs - that'd rock!

I called to day in regards to a couple of issues. The first issue was to see if and why the Rescuers and the Love Bug were discontinued and the lady had no clue and finally came back and said they should be available everywhere, told her that I was not able to find them anywhere. Next question was about the inserts and she knew right off that they were discontinued asked why and she did not know but said she would launch a complaint with their marketing department asked her to please do so because it really makes their DVD's seem cheap. And the other issue was just to get my Behind the scenes at walt disney studios DVD's replaced because it locks up so I have not been able to watch the last part of the Reluctant Dragon, So now I will be able to Hurray!!!
ME: I see. Well, will they still be inside the major releases, like the Platinum Editions and such?
HER: Yes, they'll only be absent from the smaller titles.
So if "The Love Bug" DVD is a special Edition should'nt it have an insert? Mine did not.

That's weird. If 20,000 Leagues had one, I would expect Love Bug to as well.

Wow. They are just cheapin' out and they know it! Notice they wouldn't leave the inserts out from the "major" releases but they sure won't be afraid to charge you just as much for the smaller ones. They know that by leaving them out the DVD seems cheap otherwise why put them in at all. Honestly though, how much could it cost to put inserts in? I'm guessing no more than nickel per dvd. Boo Disney!

The upcoming SE's of Alice, Pocahontas, and Lilo better have inserts. If not, I guess I'll just use the ones from the single disc editions, even if they don't match...

Ben Simon said in his The Jungle Book 2 review:
"It seems following the recent release of The Rescuers, Disney have started to drop the traditional chapter index card found within DVD cases, which seems a poor cost-cutting exercise. Do it on the secondary releases and DTV titles, by all means, but the classics and even theatrical sequels like this (which itself is an important release in Disney’s own eye) at least deserve a list of chapter titles. Cheap."
