Disney registers Domains for Snow White Blu-Ray and Oliver

Disney has recently registered a plethora of new domains. Among the most interesting, are domains for an upcoming Oliver and Company DVD site and Snow white Blu-Ray site. The websites are not active, they have only been registered. Several months before Disney announced The Sword in the Stone SE, the registered the site (which is not yet active), so it looks like Oliver and Company will be getting a reissue sometime in the not so distant future. The same goes for Snow White, could October 2009 bring the release of Snow White on Blu-Ray? It looks that way.

(I would like to apologize for not posting lately and for not answering my PM’s or e-mail. I have been very, very busy with school. I am sorry. I look forward to becoming a regular poster again. I do read the site and forum several times a day, so I’ve kept up with everything. I hope everything has been well UD!)

Goodie! Aside from Hercules and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a NEW Oliver and Company DVD has been at the top of my list for quite some time now. I really love this movie, and I have held off on buying it in hopes of a new edition. I can't wait to own this movie. Hopefully we'll be hearing more about a re-release in the near future. Thanks for posting!

I'm fine with Snow White in 2009 (though I would have liked Fantasia ... oh well).

I'm not fine with Oliver & Company, because of course we all know it's just going to be a very minor upgrade of the last disc. It's sick. I'd rather they don't reissue it at all.

Intersting, thought I think that Snow White will be out in 2011\2012.
Wellcome back by the way :D.

Interesting, thanks DV!

I'm guessing the new O&C will be the same disc that's already released, except they'll probably drop the trailers and 1996 theatrical-reissue featurette, and replace them with some silly "Rescue Oliver!" game or a "Which Dog Are You?" quiz. And of course, there will be a tree-killing DVD condom for those who love them.

Interesting and slightly confusing at the same time. Anyone have any idea what this is going to be? A DVD/BluRay with Adventureland-themed episodes of "Disneyland"? Or some all-new Disney movie that takes all the rides in Adventureland and tries to tell a coherent-but-still-muddled story?

For a second I thought Disney acquired the distribution rights to the 1981 ITV miniseries. Then I did a bit of searching and found it's for the 2008 version that's co-distributed by Miramax!

Forgot to say that I hope Snow White is NOT the Fall 2009 Platinum Edition. I think it would be really stupid to start re-releasing them over again when there is just one film yet to be released in the Platinum Edition line. I'm hoping that Snow White receiving Blu-Ray treatment will have nothing to do with the existing Platinum Edition line. Hopefully Blu-Ray re-releases will be something completely different, and separate.

I agree. The Blu-Ray format has so much potential over DVD, e.g. picture-in-picture viewing (I can't think of the others I've heard of), so it would be nice if they released a Snow White package that simply would not have been possible on DVD...

THANK YOU DISNEY VILLAIN!

Unlikely:
SNOWWHITEANDTHESEVENDWARFSBLURAY.COM
SNOWWHITEANDTHESEVENDWARFSDVD.COM
SNOWWHITEBLURAY.COM
But Snow White should always be a Fall Platinum, it's a better sell and tradition (the more popular, desired, and usually Princess films for Fall). Fantasia can come in the Spring. Think of the Platinum Editions as constantly cycling, there is no "end" or "finishing", except to the collector who doesn't plan on purchasing more than one edition, but it is only finished to them.

Me, I like multiple releases, you end up getting something different each time and if you collect every edition you end up with more and more about your favorite films.

Only classic I still don't have.

Did Disney ever announce that the Platinum line was ever going to be ongoing? (repeating itself over and over?) Mabey this new Snow White is going to be the first release in whatever new banner they are going to put on a new line (just like it was the first release for the platinum line)....so mabey next year they will finish up the platinum line, while also beginning the new rotation....just a thought.

Thanks for the new information, Disney Villian! I've missed readind you're posts and glad to know you'll be back soon. :)

You mentioned you didn't know what Happy Monster Band was. It's a Playhouse Disney TV show that airs in the morning. I think it's only five minutes, though, so I don't know why they would release a DVD for it.. :?

No, I believe Disney did announce the release was to, I guess, continue in a circle... A circle of DVD life...

Snow must be coming soon for them to get a domain registered. I'm dieing to hear any plans!!!

hmm, Camp Rock 2 and Jonas Brothers 3D will be fun.

may be the ones that we can't fully understand the title for are upcoming DCOMs or DCOSs; Dadnapped for example will be a DCOM.

A new DVD version of Oliver & Company sounds interesting and surprising...perhaps a 20th Anniversary Edition for November? (seeing that they already used the term "special edition" for their last dvd release)

I forgot to comment that I am also very excited for Oliver and Company.

I don't have that film in any form, either. But I know I used to love it when I was younger.

I would have it in my collection, but I can't find it in any local stores.

It isn't surprising Oliver & Company would follow the recent releases of The Aristocats and 101 Dalmatians. The movie has a kitten co-existing with a gang of dogs. I don't have Oliver in my collection because I've been waiting for a reissue and it appears one's coming. :P

Ooooh, good thinking toonaspie! I really hope that is the case, and your logic is perfectly, well, logical!

Why the hell did you wait!? Just go and snatch the current edition from the shelf. All they're gonna do is change cover art and add er ... more 'silly' games (as Scaps put it). And of course, they can say the disc has a new digital transfer ... but we all know that the current transfer looks pretty good, and there's no way Disney is going to spend money on a relatively unknown film trying to make it look like a Blu-Ray disc on a DVD ... if that makes sense. :P

I usually just wait for new releases for the DMR points. :P
