The Annie Award nominess have been announced! Considered to be the highest award in the animation industry, the organization honors achievements in film, television, and direct-to-video projects. Here's a rundown on the feature animation nominees:
Best Animated Feature:
Brother Bear - 8 Nominations
Finding Nemo - 13 Nominations
Looney Tunes: Back in Action- 4 Nominations
Millenium Actress - 4 Nominations
The Triplets of Belleville - 3 Nominations
Other films not recognized in the "top" category but scored elsewhere are:
101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure - 3 Nominations
The Jungle Book 2 - 4 Nominations
Piglet's Big Movie - 1 Nomination
Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas - 4 Nominations
If, you ask me, they gave a little too much love to Looney Tunes: Back in Action and someone must have really liked the direct-to-video Disney released. Instead of giving smaller films a boost like Jester Till and Tokyo Godfathers, they decided keep the Oscar race as clear-cut as possible. Their five nominess in their "Best Picture" category are now officially the ones that will be vying for slots at the end of this month. Like almost all precursors, they didn't stray from the frontrunners.
