the brother bear site is now open and is nothing big but is funny, u can watch thenew trailer there which is being plaeyed infornt of finding nemo and it so awsome I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!

Awesome. I missed the previews at Finding Nemo and therefore missed this new trailer. The movie looks great. It's great that they got Phil Collins to do some songs for it. The music sounds wonderful. I'm really looking forward to this film.

Hmm . . . looks pretty good, but still not too sure about its quality. It looks like its going to be very similar to Tarzan.

How It downt look or sound anything like tarzan even the songs dont sound like tarzan the only similarity is that phil collins is doing the soundtrack

I think the phil collins music does give the preview the same type of feel that there is for Tarzan. But I'll be damned, that preview looks pretty darn good! The moose brothers are a riot too!

I'm not really referring to the story or anything like that. I just mean the general feel of it seems extremely similar to Tarzan. That isn't a put down, I'm just wary of expecting too much from the film's originality.

A couple of people think that the artwork looks like the art in Pocahontas. Since I haven't seen Pocahontas, I can't comment.

What is interesting is that co-director Aaron Blaise was the supervising animator for Young Nala in The Lion King. Also, composer Mark Mancina worked on The Lion King's Music (" Just Can't Wait to Be King"), The Rythm of The Pride Lands, and The Lion King Musical. The voice of Denahi is Jason Raize from the Lion King Musical. Jason Raize played Adult Simba from the Original Broadway Cast.

Ok, now that I've seen the new trailer, I gotta say I'm kinda excited.

Yeah, there looks like a little bit of retread (Lion King, Tarzan, Pocahontas), but I'm always excited when the previews for a new Disney flick comes out and in this case I'm no less excited.

Hopefully, we'll have it here by Christmas (or just after).

Saw the promo in front of Nemo tonight, and agree with all of this. The music and then Phil Collins' voice make you instantly think of Tarzan. The obviously Canadian mooses (moosi? meece?) do a bit about "if you can only see one movie this summer" that had our audience just howling.

The Disney CEO commented at the Bernstein's Strategic Decisions Conference on June 3rd that the Mouse's next traditionally animated film "was in the Lion King realm because it has talking animals, we shall see if it is in the Lion King realm in terms of talking bankers." Feel the passion...

It is always refreshing to hear a CEO who is interested in things beyond the bottom line.

From what I can gather, Brother Bear is about three Native American brothers. One is killed by a bear and the other two swear revenge. In the process one is transformed into a bear and must find a way to transform back into a human, while the other brother who is still after revenge continues to hunt bears, including his transformed brother...

It does sound very like a traditional fairy-tale structure for the story. So my question is this... is this a new, original story thought up by Disney, or is it an adaptation of an existing Native American folk tale?

I think BROTHER BEAR sounds a lot like a mixture of Pocahontas, Tarzan, and Lion King. It's obviously "in the spirit of Pocahontas" because of its setting and Native American roots. It'll probably be similar to Tarzan in terms of score and songs (will Phil Collins let ANY of the characters sing their own songs?), and the whole talking bears thing just reminds me of the talking lions in Lion King. But with it's premise, Brother Bear could easily deal with the same issues and themes as Lion King.

I am looking forward to Brother Bear. So far, the animation looks great and I really like the song from the trailer.

I actually like the songs better when the characters don't sing them. Tarzan was the last Disney film that I really loved since The Lion King. The soundtrack was amazing. The songs really added to the story and they are one reason why Tarzan has become one of my favorite Disney films.
