So I am watching Superfriends with my kids when a commercial for 101 Dalmatians comes on. There is a digitally enhanced horse from the movie that's butt expands and contacts while it farts and then one of the Dalmation puppies says that sounds strange.

Why do they need something like that to market the movie especially when it is not in the movie? For the love of God tell me they havent put that in the movie.

They haven't. I think they did it just for the commercial.

At least my dismay is shared.

This was mentioned in the parent 101 PE thread. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know what exactly it's like. Still, Disney should stoop so low.

I saw that farting horse ad 3 or 4 weeks ago and felt a little bit of me die. I'm not surprised though considering they had the burping dog in Lady & the Tramp and they had the Crocodile belch for Peter Pan last year. I wonder what will happen next? A Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather lesbian love trist? Pinocchio's other extremity grows when he lies? I can't wait to see all the dwarf farting for when Snow White comes around again...

It is true that they seem to always make their Platinum commercials resort to potty jokes. I remember being shocked during a commercial for TLM: PE where Sebastian burps. At first I thought it was really bad editing, but when I went on the official website there was a download of Sebastian burping.

I saw a similar thing in Disney website-the fornt page had an ad for the PE with a picture of Ashley Tisdale slepping Flounder and Sebastiab bruping the DVD I also saw that screenmate of him burping (who also got my computer stuck),the TinkerBell screenmate was MUCH better.
They shouldn't make those potty jokes don't tell me that we"ll farting Jimminy Cricket when the Pinocchio PE will be released or burping Flora,Founa and Merriweather when Sleeping Beauty PE will be released .

yeha, I saw this a little while back. I was pretty put off by the whole thing. I hope it does not become the norm.

I have not seen it, but I should be thankful that I haven't. Its a shame what they do to classic films in order to appeal to this generation.

I've always hated fart jokes (and specially fecal matter jokes) for the sole reason that they are cheap. Kids literally roll on the floor whenever its brought up. Heck, even if you say "I farted" they die, even when you really didn't!

I blame The Lion King, Shrek and Dreamworks for making the fart joke a staple in family films... -_-

NO, Lion King isn't owned by Dreamworks. Except, now if you mention dreamworks having fart jokes, see Starscream's rant on PDI/Glendale Vs. Pixar.

Agree,it's just low levels and stupid and even some adults love those jokes .
What's next burping Flora,Founa and Merriweather in Sleeping Beauty PE? farting Jimminy Cricket in Pincchio PE? Yensid sick in Fantasia PE? .
And yeah,Dreamworks had thos nonsense in Shrek,Shrek 3-D,Shrek 2 and Shark Tale,thought Madagascar,Shrek The Third and Over The Hedge didn't had any fart jokes .
The Lion King is also the balme .

I was just watching Cartoon Network earlier and saw this as well. Makes me feel sad how low Disney marketing has gone to try to appeal kids in this way. Before they could just market their films as being classics and kids would love to see them, but now they have to resort to potty humor?

As Arielsprince said, I wonder what we'll see in the future. I wouldn't be surprised in Pinocchio, he'll burp from the bubbles instead of hiccup. Or for SB we'll see Phillip and Samson farting back and forth between each other.

He never said it was he said that he blames all of Dreamworks, Shrek- a Dreamworks product AND The Lion King (most likely Pumbaa) for fart jokes in family films.

I know Lion King isn't owned by Dreamworks. What I meant was that Lion King is perhaps the first (and I think only) Disney film to feature fart jokes.

Back then it was very subtle. You never heard the "fart" sound (they used a trombone I believe) and even the word was censored (Everytime I, NOT IN FRONT OF THE KIDS!).

But it was the first attempt at making fart jokes funny. Now Dreamworks has made a profit out of them.

What about the alien in Treasure Planet who does nothing but communicate in farts?

Oh I could say so much about what I think, but I'll hold myself back on a lot of it as it's Disney after all but... ouch, what on earth motivated them to market the DVD like that? I mean, the commercials for the DVD over hear are very mundane and short but at least they're not like this. Dear lord, I was right, these advertising campaigns for animated movies are getting worse! Thank god they didn't alter the movie itself like this...

I just saw this commercial earlier today. I can't believe that Disney has actually stooped this low to making commercials like this. I bet well probaly see Archimedis belching soon for Sword In The Stone.

I can imagine how they'd do that.
