Anyone else a fan? I've recently been watching them with the children at the daycare that I work at and while they arn't the most visually stunning films, they have a lot of heart I think.

Don't even get me started on these films. They are just there to make money.

Every one is like a new 90 minute commercial...

They are almost as bad as the Land Before Time series. And yes, they are just a long commercial. With stuff like Bratz doing well, Barbie had to find a way to compete and the movies were the way to do it. I think I've seen them all....I think I have....that's how memorable they are. My daughter is not much of a fan of them. She's 9 and a tom boy.

Barbie as Rapunzel and Barbie in Swan Lake are a guilty pleasures of mine. Notice that Disney has not made films of these? Maybe I wouldn't have to reduce myself to watching Barbie if DISNEY would make those movies!
Truthfully, they're not terrible movies. But they're not fantastic movies either.

You
do know that Disney's planning on making
Rapunzel in like 2010 or sooner? I'd be surprised if you didn't know that. But maybe what you didn't know was when they made
Aladdin, they considered doing
Swan Lake, and
Aladdin sounded more fun so they chose it. Also, the animated film the
The Swan Princess is based off of Swan Lake, and was made by ex-Disney animation director Richard Rich.

Yes, I did know. I guess I was complaining that they didn't do it sooner.
Anyway, I didn't know that they ever thought about doing Swan Lake. I enjoy The Swan Princess, it certainly has a Disney feeling to it, although I didn't know someone from Disney worked on it. I wonder if Disney could ever do Swan Lake, there would be a lot of confusion because The Swan Princess is very "Disney".

There was one of these on today; "Barbie Marisposa." I tuned in for a moment, but stopped after the villainess declared, "Soon, I'll be ruler of all Flutterfield."
Flutterfield? Even cockroaches have more imagination than that.

Yeah, I don't go for that stupid Fairytopia stuff. The Princess movies are a lot better

Just a little TLM fan humor.
Anyway, I wonder what Marisposa is about. I've seen a couple commercial for it on odd TV networks. Is it a spin-off of Fairytopia or something?
P.S. I AM NOT A BARBIE MOVIE FAN I HAVE JUST SEEN A COUPLE OF THEM....

"Mariposa" is alot like the Fairytopia movies, it has the main character from those telling the story of her friend Mariposa to someone. I thought it was by far the best one as far as graphics and overall it was an enjoyable story.

Three of my closest friends are crazy about them, including my best friend, but I have never watched a Barbie movie. Frankly, I would be too embarrassed to rent one!

I've only seen Rapunzel, The Princess and the Pauper, and the 12 Dancing Princesses when they came on t.v.
Now, I have to admit the movies I mentioned really had good plots, and they kept my interests. The fairytale ones are good, the rest I simply didn't bother with (except for The Princess and the Pauper because I like the original novel The Prince & the Pauper).

My daughters have every one of these and just love to watch them. In addition to the stunning visuals and positive moral lessons, the music is absolutely beautiful. My girls already love classical music and I have Barbie to thank for it. Say what you will about the commercialism, these make my girls happy and that's all I can ask.......and all I want.

I would like to see one of these!
Which one would you suggest first? Is there one that is better than the others?

They are all pretty much the same, so you can just watch them in their production order. Here it is:
Barbie Princess Movies
- Barbie in the Nutcracker (2001) - this one is good
- Barbie as Rapunzel (2002) - this one is really good and it's my favorite of the bunch
- Barbie of Swan Lake (2003) - I hate this one, "Swan Princess" is much, much better
- Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper (2004) - it's nice, I think it's the best Barbie movie next to "Rapunzel" and the "12 Dancing Princesses"
- Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus (2005) - meh
- Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses (2006) - really good
- Barbie as the Island Princess (2007) - meh
- Barbie and the Diamond Castle (2008) - it's not out yet
Barbie Fairy Movies
- Barbie: Fairytopia (2005) - nice
- Barbie: Fairytopia - Mermaidia (2006) - really good
- Barbie: Fairytopia - Magic of the Rainbow (2007) - good
- Barbie: Mariposa and her Butterfly Fairy Friends (2008) - nice
and there's also "Barbie Diaries" (which I haven't seen), but it's about Barbie's high school days.
But my favorite Barbie movie is the one from the '80s, it's called "Barbie and the Rock Stars: Out of This World", it's got great '80s pop-music, but I don't think it's ever been released on DVD.
Mind you, stay away from these films if you dislike (or hate) kids' films - and by kids I mean girls in the range of 2 to 7 years old.

I saw 12 Dancing Princesses because I was curious and I thought it was very cute, sure,it's not Disney,Pixar or Dreamworks but it's very cute.
They"re planning Sleeping Beauty version by the way,What's really good about those films that they focoused about fairy tales that Disney didn't worked on/less known like Rapunzel,12 Dancing Princesses,Swan Lake and etc. insted of the most famous ones like Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella but anyway this sounds good.
