Whoopi Goldberg & Brad Renfro Snubbed at Oscars

I immediately noticed Whoopi's absence in the montage of Oscar hosts last night. It's bad enough that she hasn't been asked back to host, but this oversight was really absurd. I'm glad that the media has picked up on it.
The lack of recognition for Brad Renfro is similarly absurd. Instead of excusing it, the Academy should just own up to the mistake and apologize.
Here's a video of Whoopi's reaction on "The View" today:

Not only Brad Renfro, but Robert Goulet too. How did they miss that?!

Really? Was Robert Goulet not there?
In all fairness though, I'm sure it's got to be hard to get everybody up there. I had no idea Deborah Kerr and Peter Ellenshaw had passed away this year.

I'm sure it's hard, but someone ought to be really checking these things. It's the freaking Academy, for crying out loud. They should be sure everyone is honored.
Also, I really wish people would either clap consistently or hold all applause 'til the end. Otherwise, it sounds like a popularity contest.

I know. There were some really great people on that montage whom didn't get much applause (at least it didn't sound that way). Yeah, it probably would have been more respectable to clap at the end, but when I think about it, if one of my heros was up there, and they helped me live my dream, I would clap, too.

I immediately noticed that Brad Renfro was missing from the list of actors who had passed this year. I didn't however notice that Whoopi was missing from the list of hosts. Looks like the Oscar committee didn't pay very close attention this year.

Whoopi must not have been a very good host, otherwise more people would have recognized that fact. I don't remember her hosting the show, but I also am not a big fan of Miss Goldberg either. Just a handful of movies in my collection have her in them, and I have avoided The View even moreso since she replace Rosie O-Fat.
Sorry to see the Academy not even wince at missing Brad Renfro's untimely death. They really made a big to-do about Heath Ledger's though. I thought that was a real downer.
The whole Oscar show this year was a real yawner from the opening to the very ending. Even some of the winner's couldn't get excited about winning. Hope they can get a decent host that can hold an audience's attention next year. Get someone like Billy Crystal or Robin Williams. Even David Letterman's turn at hosting the Oscar's was more noteworthy than this guy they had Sunday night. His jokes were lame, and I don't think half the people understood any of his sarcasm.
Just my opinion, though.

I wouldn't exactly call that photo of you in your DVDSpot account slim. Guess it takes a gasbag to know one?

Notice you have never published a photo of yourself here in the UD forums that ask for such. Are thee living in thy glass house and shouldn't be throwing bricks?
By the way, I am proud of the fact that I used t weigh in excees of 400 pounds and now trip the scales at just over 260. Bet you can't say that!!
Let's see a picture of the real Lazario, and see what a "chubby little gay-boy looks like"!!!!

Aw, Aaron, thanks for that. I didn't know she was snubbed, and apparently neither did Whoopi! Did she not watch the show? Or she just missed that part? Or she just didn't want to bring it up? But her reaction was so sweet and heartwarming, as was what her co-stars said.

Chubby little gay boys are cute. If Lazario was one, he'd be very cute. But Lazario seems to be the bigger person, and I don't mean in the physical sense.

Lazario, this is a clear personal attack and a violation of the forum guidelines. These kind of comments are not allowed, as you know.

dvdjunkie, personal attacks in response to a personal attack aren't allowed either. Please report problems to moderators instead.

Brad Renfro was not a member of the Academy, which is why he wasnt included. Why would they include him if he was not?
And lets face it, his body of work was basically one decent credit as a child actor and a bunch of bit parts. Not exactly a huge celebratable career was it?

Okay just did some research and according to the Associated Press you dont need to be a member. However, it was just for the reasons I stated. Only one starring role that was a decade old meant he was just not a big enough star and did not make enough of a contribution to the industry.
I would have to say I agree.

The Academy apologized to Whoopi and on "The View" today, she accepted the apology:

Yeha, that FOUR time host was not very good.
But I'm glad for her that they apologized and all is well.

That's just pathetic.
I don't have a Scanner. I never have. Well, actually, I used to with my 1st computer. I'm sitting here with you on my 4th computer and I haven't had one since I sold the first one.
Besides, the last person who saw my face had a tragic accident... I'm too lazy to consciously repeat that mistake.

Thank you. I am thinner now. I had my chubby days. Not that there's anything wrong with that. And the next time I hear anyone, regardless of their weight, make a crack about someone's weight, I will tear you a new one. That is a promise. Nobody has any right to make people feel ashamed for their metabolism.

It amazes me how many fat people insult other fat people. My uncle does it all the time, and he's got a big old beer belly and will say something about some person he sees at the store, street, etc, "Look at that fat pig, wow.". And I immediatly point out, "You ain't no Brad Pitt yourself you know?". As a fat girl myself, the idea of insulting someone due to their weight is calling the kettle black. If I am going to insult someone, I rather insult their ignorance.
