Finally, DESTINO! I've been longing to see this for awhile and hoped that we would have seen it last year. Well, I'm glad that Disney is going to release it in (I guess) December. I wonder what will specifically be on both discs. The short can only be 6-9 minutes so what will cover the rest of the set besides the documentary and featurettes? Unless they are quite long, this would seem to be only a one-discer. Anyway the “The Disney That Almost Was” seems kinda out there and really isn't relative to "Destino" and the “Encounters with Walt” seems interesting, but once again doesn't seem relative. But, we'll just have to wait until the end of the year and see what we get. So excited!

Cool news.
Obviously last years treasures sold well enough for the line to continue, which is great news to those who collect them (I don't, with the exception of Donald Duck sets, which every time I buy, manage to get lost or destroyed)
I'm no experts on shorts, but how many Donald sets will it take to get them all out?

Well, it appears that the contents of the Destino set are pretty much described in the article. A FEATURE LENGTH documentary, plus the short could be disc 1, and the two Featurettes (probably 20-40mins each) plus a few related shorts/clips (like the Oswald set had some related shorts on the second disc) could fill out the second (as could perhaps galleries/storyboards for unfinished projects). It wouldn't be the most packed of Treasures sets, but it would be big enough and possibly the most interesting because a lot of the content on the unfinished films/shorts will be totally and genuinely unseen.
I'm not so sure putting the movie version on the Dr Syn set is a good idea if you have the episodes. Couldn't they have selected another "adventure" serial from Disneyland and put 3 or 4 episodes of that on the second set? We could of had 3 or 4 episodes of Zorro for example.

This is supposedly the last volume and is supposed to be the rest of the Donald shorts. But I am sure there are people here that are more informed as to what is missing after we see what the contents of Vol. 4 are.

This is awesome, but too bad it's only 3 again. Also, I hate that they never tell us what the extras will be on the Donald sets... REALLY hoping for This Is Your Life, Donald Duck, and Your Host, Donald Duck, and not just excerpts. I hate excerpts. I also agree that it's pointless to get the feature version of Dr. Syn, UNLESS there was some footage in that which wasn't on the TV version, but I doubt it. That space could have been used for more Swamp Fox! In general thouh, I'm psyched for this set, and I guess I better go get Oswald and the 4th Legacy collection set already so I'll be ready for them instead of falling even more behind. And I don't think that "Disney That Almost Was" is unrelated to Destino. Sounds perfect to me. I do wish that set was including some other shorts too though, like the Fantasia 2006 stuff or the short(s) released only in some of those stand alone DVDs (I think there's a DVD that's called "It's a Small World," or something like that, which has a new Disney short not on any of the Treasures sets).

I would suggest the solution would be to include the film, plus the TV intros/outtros and cliff hangers as excerpts (sorry!

) just as the BBC are doing with the alternative episodic version of the Five Doctors on the upcoming 25th Anniversary DVD (they're making a compilation of episodic openings and closings).

Well, I understand them using the TV versions intact as the main attraction. After all, that's how it originally ran. Personally, as long as I wouldn't be losing footage by not getting the movie version, I can do without it if it means getting something else on that space.

Happy to see D4 confirmed - then we'll have most of the shorts covered, although a couple of essential classic shorts are still left out of the WDT line.
Also happy to get Destino. One couldn't expect all of the included material to be that closely "related" to the main title. This could basically be another "set of bonus material" - which could turn out to be just great!

This totally makes my week!
I am really glad to hear the donald 4 is coming out this year.
I just hope they include the 3 chip and dale shorts on there like the figaro cartoons on the pluto set.

That will complete the Donald shorts - no more were made after 1961. The last ones which were made, were Donald educational shorts (How to Have an Accident in the Home; 1956, How to Have an Accident at Work; 1959 and Donald and the Wheel; 1961) which will be interesting to see. With no more popular animated shorts series left, I suspect that this wave will be the last.

I'm not sure that the survival of the Treasures collection, or at least, whether or not we get one or two more waves, is entirely dependent on popular animated shorts series. Afterall, they did a wave under the Legacy Collection label that was entirely True Life Adventures. And, even if it is dependent on popular shorts, I think they might go for one more wave to include another set of rarities for Jiminy Cricket's stuff, Scrooge McDuck and Money, Pooh Discovers the Seasons, the What Should I Do series, and various other as yet unreleased shorts. Plus, there is a ton of live-action stuff they could still release. They might see this format as the best way to release Disneyland programs, though it probably would be even better to start a new line called "Disneyland" or the Best of Disneyland, or Walt Disney Presents, or something like that if they are down to just episodes of the anthology series.

This would complete the classic Donald shorts, but also I *think* this would complete all the theatrical shorts (not educational shorts or other things like von drake world of disney shows, etc., but I *THINK* that with this all of the classic theatrical shorts will be on the treasures. WAIT a second, except the three chip and dale shorts and figaro and cleo. Two fhte chip and dale shorts are on the chip and dale cartoon dvd, but not lone chimpmunks. I think that susie the little blue coupe is available on one of the cartoon-type dvds but not the treasures dvd's. I think there will still be a few stragglers, but this sounds to me like the END OF THE LINE, jmho.

I think Scrooge would probably be more logical as a bonus for Donald 4 and Jiminy Cricket's stuff would probably (and should) be included as bonuses for the upcoming Pinocchio PE (especially since they included some of those on the overseas Pinocchio DVD).
And let's not forget that they should do a set on Walt Disney World, a la the Disneyland DVDs.
Anyway, I'm glad that they're finally releasing the rest of the Donald shorts. I wonder if they will include the C&D shorts as bonuses, like how the Figaro shorts were included on Pluto 2 as bonuses. They could also include the Humphrey shorts as bonuses, too (yes, I know that they were included on the Rarities DVD, but still...). I also wonder if the Donald set will include 3D glasses, so you can watch Working For Peanuts in 3D. Course, Adventures In Music: Melody, which was also made in 3D (which was released on the Rarities DVD), did not have 3D glasses, so I'm not holding my breath on that one.

HALLELUJAH for another Treasures wave and Dr. Syn, too!!!
THANKS, DISNEY, for extending this DVD line another year, completing Donald Duck, and releasing Destino and Dr. Syn!
Regarding the content for Destino's 2 discs.... Since this was a project revived from archived materials, perhaps there will be plenty of vintage (and modern!) sketches and storyboards that can be included on a DVD.
= = = = = = =
Perhaps "Gallegher," "John Slaughter," "Annette," "Adventures in Dairyland," "Corky and the White Shadow," and other Mickey Mouse Club serials could be released as Treasure volumes in the future -- as well as the balance of "Elfego Baca," "The Swamp Fox," "Spin and Marty," "The Hardy Boys," plus additional "Walt Disney Presents" episodes and segments.
Since "Zorro, Season One" is available from Disney, I'd be surprised if they released Z as a Treasure -- unless the episodes were in black and white.
"Suzie, the Little Blue Coupe" hasn't made it as a Treasure item, and does Disney have any other "Alice Comedies" or "Laugh-O-Grams" that haven't been released? I believe the "Cinderella" LOG was only released on the "Cinderella" full-length animated classic 2-disc Special Edition.
