I'm pretty sure Philip is the hero while Aurora is the damsel in distress...
And I agree wholeheartedly with you Disney Villain, Philip and Aurora look really dodgy....they should be dancing somewhere on the cover maybe on the top on the clouds

You know, I've always found the older 3 Disney Princesses to be damsels in distress, BIG TIME it's almost sexist, Snow White gets dilussional and keeps screaming and crying in a forest, Cinderella just waits for something to happen and doesn't do anything about what she wants, and I don't even know why Aurora is supposed to be the main character in Sleeping Beauty they should have called the movie The 3 Good Fairies !
I guess Belle and Ariel can be called heroins, coz they fought for what they beleaved in unlike the 3 earlier princesses.

I don't see any Disney Princess as a damsle in distress,i think Meg,Jane and Kida are damsles in distress.
Snow White ran away and got help from the animales and survived in the woods.
Cinderella got to the ball with some help and made her dreams come true.
Aurora didn't had any choise, she was under a spell, besides, that the problem with the film, they might be weak but not damsles.
Jasmine is also not a damsle.

I'll agree about the 3 Good Fairies joke, but Snow Whiet ran away from the Queen instead of waiting to get killed, Cinderella made sure her stepmother let her go to the ball (under certain conditions) and came up with the idea of using Bruno to scare away Lucifer and escape from her room, and Aurora...well, she decided to let the man she loved go, and obey her parents and take on royal responsibility! Ariel and Belle similarly didn't do anything until they were provoked, either by a man they met on a ship and two slithering eels, or a horse that takes them to the castle. Jasmine is the only one who goes to find a new life all by herself, no help at all, by going to the marketplace in disguise.
And I like the Disney dust surrounding Phillip's magic sword!

Oh yes, the wands too, but their wands were expected, what wasn't expected was Phillip's sword. And I must ask how Esmeralda is a damsel, I thought she tried to fight a bit. Same for Meg. But if it would take to long to explain, then I will just have to see the movies again, 'cause I like Hunchback and Hercules.

Does anyone have a contact number for that American woman who taught monkeys to understand sign language?
Maybe she'd be able to help us.

Ok, it's all a matter of personal opinion but I found most of the princesses to be damsels in distress not heroes.
hero - A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life.
Aurora - Either danced, sang or slept.
Philip - Fell in love with Aurora. Risked his life to defeat Maleficent and save Aurora.

It's not a matter of opinion.
In what conceivable way would Aurora be the hero of Sleeping Beauty? Or Esmerelda or Meg not be considered a damsel?
I'm mean for christ's sake the bloody cows in Home on the Range are better heros than any of the princesses in the "classic" princess movies.
Aurora: "I'm going to live in a forest, sing songs to rabbits, then touch a spinning wheel and go to sleep. Then I'll have a quick game of tonsil hockey with him, and then... umm.. maybe I'll have a dance in an dress that changes colour."
Whereas:
Esmerelda: "Living life seeing the injustices of the world I'm going to stand up for a fight for justice. I'll confront the establishment in order to protect the less fortunate. And I'll even be willing to be excecuted rather than go against my views and give in to those who try to put us down!
God I'm such a damsel!"

I agree with you 100% but it seemed it was down to opinion even though they never fitted the definition of hero because of Ariel'sprince

I think the hero is the one that everything happend to him and he do stuff, and Aurora is a hero.
Esmeralda is not the main character and she got saved by quasi.
Aurora is the main hero,it's just a spell, like the Beast.

I think you're confusing the stereotypical definition of "hero" with "main character". Any woman who is in trouble could be labled as a damsel in distress.

Well, hero is a main character for me.
so Mulan and Pocahontas are damsels? they were in trouble and got saved (Mulan from death and Pocahontas from merrying Kocoham and unknowing something better is waiting for her) they're just not damsles, none of the Disney Princesses is a damsle,Wendy,Maid Marian and Jane are damsles.

Well, by that logic, Obi-Wan Kenobi wouldn't be a hero? Or Phoebus? Or etc. etc. etc.?
There's no rule saying you can't be heroic and a damSEL. A damsel in distress is what it sounds like" a woman in trouble. That's all.

Hmmm,they're but not main characters.
So Aurora can be both heronic and a damsle? so every girl in trouble is a damsle even if she's heronic like Mulan,Pocahontas,Ariel,Aurora and etc.?.

Aurora just gets pushed around a lot, and even Philip just showed up at the right time. The heroines are really the Three Good Fairies.

I definitely agree with that assessment. Without the fairies, Phillip still would've been locked in the dungeon. Not only that, but they supplied him with the sword and shield, freed Samson, turned arrows into flowers, boulders into bubbles, rainbows to shield him and get him across a large gap, freed his cape from the thorns, AND enchanted the sword to fly straight into Maleficent's heart. Phillip had several chances to die, and the Fairies saved him each time. All Phillip really did was strike Maleficent on the snout a couple of times and then wake Aurora up. So not only do the three good fairies have the most screentime of anyone else in the film, they're also the most proactive characters.
