Hey guys, I just wanna educate everyone on an Australian icon, the singer/songwriter Delta Goodrem.
Image

Delta, who is 23 years old, has released 3 albums since starting on her career, and has blossomed into an icon for Australia, successful in Japan and the UK. She has appeared in the well-received soap opera Neighbours, and has received a Logie for her work on it (the Aussie equivalent of an Emmy). She's also appeared in films, and has recently written a single for Celine Dion, "Eyes On Me" for her album Taking Chances. Her new album and image have been likened to Celine, of whom is one of Delta's idols. Delta suffered from cancer in between her first two albums, and has since gone into remission. She has been in relationships with Australian tennis player, and reality TV star Mark Philliopousis, and ex-Westlife member Brian McFadden, with whom she will marry soon in the new year. She has actually had a prolific career, despite only breaking through in 2003. Here are her video clips to her singles-
I Don't Care (her debut single, but wasn't her type of music, and was unsuccessful. It had a bubblegum pop sound, while she wanted to have a more artistic sound)-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YMspO_mlQo

Please watch Innocent Eyes, Mistaken Identity, and Believe Again, all are great clips, and you will get a real feel for her transformation over the years, from 17 year old singer, to icon for Aussie music. Believe Again especially is a fantastic clip, it took months to make, it has more special effects shots than some movies.

If you love music or are a fan of songstresses and singers that evolve their image, you will find her really interesting. :) Enjoy

:o Thanks so much for posting those videos, James! I had heard of her before, but had never heard her music before. I really liked what I heard. Was "I Don't Care" on any albums, or was it just a single? I love teen pop, so I really liked that song, but I liked the other songs that I heard, too.
I'm always on the lookout for musicians that I've never really listened to before, and I should add her to my list...thanks for sharing! :)

That's allright BC85, I did want people who hadn't really heard much of her stuff to hear it, so that's for listening and watching. I Don't Care was just a single, carved around the whole Britney/Christina/Mandy/Jessica sound of the time. She was about only 15 at the time and was never into that type of music so it just never took off, with her and the general public, since the business was saturated with that whole genre by that stage. It debuted on the Australian charts at number 62 or something, so they reworked her sound into what it is today.
But yeah, just a single, no album. I think it might have come on a Japanese edition of one of her albums or maybe the special US hybrid of all her stuff, but I'm not sure. But I'm sure that in Australia, where she releases everything, and where she's the most popular, it didn't appear on any album.

I remember when I was 12, I was at the gold coast, Australia, and I saw her performing "Born to Try" on Nickelodeon Live ! I feel in love with that song ever since. :)

Here is the all-new video re-filmed especially for the US, of In This Life-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEoGDS0lp_0&feature=user
During the last weeks of March Goodrem returned from California, where she filmed a new clip for the US version of In This Life. The video clip, in which she stretches seductively on a stretch of sand on Malibu Beach, will be used to introduce her to the US audiences, as well as a photoshoot for the new cover of her self titled album, Delta, set to be released in the US later in 2008. For the new video she worked with director Robert Hales (who has also shot videos for Justin Timberlake and Gnarls Barkley) who choose to give a good introduction of Goodrem: her basics as an artist. Goodrem says about the video: "It's quite earthy and creative. It's going to be an introduction for me. I have to be at the piano. I have to introduce myself and say 'Here I am, this new artist'". The song has already been released on radio in the US.
Buy the single it's on iTunes now.
