Sadly Suzanne Pleshette has died at the age of 70. She died of respiratory failure and had been treated in recent years for lung cancer. She starred in 3 of my favorite Disney live action movies: The Ugly Dachshund, Blackbeard's Ghost & The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin. She also was in Hitchcock's The Birds & was probably best known as Bob Newhart's wife in The Bob Newhart Show. She was also the widow of Tom Poston who starred in The Princess Diaries 2. RIP

And let's not forget her unforgettable role as Zira in "Simba's Pride".

Wow, and for a while I'd been thinking Zoe Caldwell did Zira's voice. Because she does the voice for the Grand Councilwoman in Lilo & Stitch who sounds identical to Zira so I automatically thought Zoe did Zira's too. Oops!

Anyway, Suzanne Pleshette did a great job as Zira, Yubaba, and Zeniba. I only say those because Spirited Away and Simba's Pride are the ones she'd worked in that I'm most familiar with. Rest in peace, fair lady. :(

Was very sad to hear this. Growing up, her Disney films were some of my favorites, especially Shaggy D.A. (which is particularly notable for a great opening song sung by Dean Jones, I still gotta get that DVD) and the Ugly Dachshund. Love those flicks! And, Bullwhip Griffin has become one of my all-time favorite films, period. On the non-Disney side, my little sister is a huge fan of the old Bob Newhart show and will be very sad to hear this.

I also loved her in The Birds.... RIP.

Man, this has not been a good day for Hollywood... :( Sad, really.
