we know Fox and the Hound and Pocahontas had the unusal sad ending .. but which one is the most sad?

Good question- those two are a perfect match for endings that are strangely happy and sad at the same time. I think there was more at stake in Pocahontas. And, most of Fox and the Hound was just stupid. So, since Pocahontas was better, it's easier to feel the ending meant more. More = more sad.

I didn't like Pocahontas very much. Since I loved the Fox and the Hound for it's bittersweet scenes, I'm voting for it as far as which one had the sadder ending.

Well, Pocahontas was very good and Fox and the Hound represents the greatest strain and weakness on Disney's filmmakers' ability to make good creative and intelligent animated films.

Well, not in my opinion. There are a few people out there who love the Fox and the Hound, too.

I will go with my gut feeling from childhood. As a child, the ending of The Fox & the Hound made me sadder, perhaps because Copper and Tod's friendship could be traced back further than the relationship of Pocahontas and John, and definitely because Tod was both betrayed and forced to lose his home-- three emotionally wounding conflicts that I found to never be resolved.

First of all I want to say I like both movies, though "Fox and the Hound" is more in the 'okay' category for me.


I believe that Pocahontas is ultimately the sadder one, because we are aware that there will not be a lasting peace between colonists and Indians. That gives me a sad melancholy feeling.
As for "Fox and the Hound": I can imagine Tod ( that's the fox' name right?) living a fine life with his Vixie in the wildlife preserve and getting lots of cubs. .
So I think it the feeling of sadness depends on the side from which you look at it; looking back at what happened before or thinking about what will happen afterwards.

The perfect answer, IMO. Pocahontas' ending was more of a "we're even now" type of ending, for me. The Fox and the Hound's ending was really hard to watch for me, it was just so sad.

I think Pocahontas ending is sadder. Pocahontas is about people and love, Fox and the Hound is about animals and friendship. I think that people are gonna relate to Pocahontas a bit more then The Fox and the hound.

Hunchback has the sadest ending (can't stand this movie)-
Why Esmeralda had to survive? why? why? she had to die! really,dumping Quasi because he looks like a "monster" after toadying him so he"ll rescue her (don't even get me started on her dancing like some kind of a hoe and make even Frollo fell in love with her),shame on her,if i was Quasi i whould let her die.
Well,if someone sees differently he can comment but i think it's pretty it's very rude of her .

A girl shouldn't go out with a boy just because he saved her. But I haven't seen the movie in ages so I don't remember who would have been better for her and if she really grew to love Phoebus. It's true if someone saves you they care for you and that's a good reason to be with someone, but you also should care for them. If she loved him because he saved her, that would've been sweet, but it just didn't happen and you have to go with who you love.

No but a girl shouldn't go to the guy's tower toadying to him with "You're no monster!" so he"ll came to her rescue and then dumping him for blondy becuase he looks like a "monster",that was rude of her if she loved Blondy from the beginning at least she shouldn't toadying for him to save her .

But this just shows the selflessness of Quasimodo the more; he knows the girl he loves is in love with another yet he saves her out of friendship.
And to defend Esmeralda: just because she was kind to Quasimodo doesn't have to mean she was in love with him; never did she tell him " I love you". So she didn't 'dump' Quasimodo, she just happened to fall in love with 'blondie' Phoebus.

As for you remark about "Pocahontas", Ariel'sprince: he did not return but they would meet again one more time in England.

Well..in real life they weren't in love in the first place.
Still, I've heard Disney didn't do well with the sequel, and probably would have done better if they stuck closer to history with that one.

A-HA! Another example of Disney saying when it comes to love, we should love and fall in love according to tradition. Anyone different or deformed is not worthy... Just like Disney, appearences matter most.

Nah, I'm just kidding. Haven't seen the movie in almost a decade. It wasn't good enough, anyway. And all the damn spit and fart jokes. That was just nasty.
