Guess Which Hollywood Starlet Is Pregnant...

Just heard about this on CNN, apparently Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant.
CNN's Article
Here's the "highlights" of the article...(well, highlights picked by me)
Now that 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears has a bun in the oven, the young actress and singer's budding career may be over before it had a chance to really take off.
...
She appeared to be doing all the right things, at least publicly. No club hopping, no tales of drug or alcohol abuse. She even kept a healthy distance from her troubled big sister (Britney Spears is said to not have known that her baby sister is with child).
Playing the role of the "good girl" to her older sister's "naughty" reputation, was great for Jamie Lynn's clean image and could have ultimately been good for her bank account.
...
"What's sad about this is that Jamie Lynn was the good Spears," said Janice Min, editor-in-chief of US Weekly. "She was a huge tween star. And while her older sister was on the downslide, she appeared to be on the upswing. The hopes that Jamie Lynn could transcend the problems of her family were very high."
...
When Britney was her sister's age, she was sitting at the top of the Billboard charts. Now, Jamie Lynn may be left singing a familiar tune: "I coulda been a contender.
------
I really have no interest or opinion regarding Spears Mark 2, as I quit watching "All That" soon after Kenan & Kel left, and I only watched an episode of "Zoey 101" for comparison purposes of the current live-action Nickelodeon shows (when doing my review of "Ned's Declassified..."). But still, I can only wonder how the press, the fans, and the non-fans will handle this. This opens up a whole new can of worms in what is considered right and wrong for teen celebrity behavior. Then again, I don't think there was much hubbub about Keisha Castle-Hughes's pregnancy, and she was about the same age as Spears Mark 2 when it was revealed/announced.
I guess the only thing we can do is wish her a safe and healthy pregnancy.
I think the ironic thing about all this is that she met the father of the baby in
church, an institution that is best known for abstinence regarding pre-marital sex.
ETA: They're having a discussion about it again on CNN if anyone's interested...
ETAA: Silly little Scaps, I should've checked the
BS News Flash thread first, where it's already discussed. Then again, that thread is for BS, this is for JLS, so maybe it doesn't need to be merged.

I wonder if she'll beat Britney's record for losing custody, as well. There's no way, at 16, she's able to probably care for a child... and her boyfriend is equally ill-suited to the task at 19, lol. Though if Britney is any indication, an extra 10 years of prep time wouldn't be enough to turn her into parenting material.
It is amusing that so many of the articles reporting this story feel it necessary to mention she met her bf at church, though, lol. Clearly, going to church did these morons no good

You know my mind immediately screamed "spears" just upon reading the title. I guess I must be psychic
Who wants to bet that the Church comes up with some story along the lines of "Jamie Lynn Spears was a good Christian, but turned evil after watching "The Golden Compass"! Boycott this film or your teens will fall preggers!

But of course they're shocked, they don't expect the "good kid" to do stupid things like this...

This is disappointing. I was never a fan of hers, but that she now seems to be on her sister's 'track' is disappointing.

I didn't realize that her boyfriend is a grown-up...can he be charged for statitory rape (or in LA or CA or wherever, is she old enough to legally give consent)?
I'm really glad she's keeping the baby- she surely must have the money to support her child- now if only she doesn't look up to Britney as a parenting role model.

If she had an abortion and people knew about it, she would be crucified. If people didn't know about this, I would suggest she have the abortion, poste haste.

He could, and it would make this story that much more amusing if he were; but I doubt he will be. Her parents don't seem to care, and the police probably wouldn't bother anyway.

Money does not a good parent make. At 16, she's nowhere near ready to properly take care of a kid. The fact she's rolling in money at that age makes it all the more likely she's not at all grounded in the real world, which isn't good as far as parenting goes. And based on the job her on mother did with her and Britney, and the disgraceful job Britney has done despite being 10 years older; let's just say the cards aren't stacked in her favour.

Good thing the boyfriend was not black. They would probably give him the death penalty in Louisiana for it.

I know, and that's why I mentioned that I hope she doesn't look up to Britney in the parenting department. I'm just saying that she has a monetary advantage over the average teen parent- at least the baby will have some nice shelter, food, and clothes. Hopefully she won't be putting soda in her baby's bottle, though.

My english teacher told me Spears' mother wants to publish a book on how to be a good parent. I highly doubt that will sell well, or even get published!

Agreed. She let Jamie Lynn's legally adult aged boyfriend live in her house and sleep with her daughter on a regular basis.

I think in California, or anywhere in the U.S.(not really sure) Once a minor is impegnated she automatically becomes an emancipated adult. I remember my psychology teacher giving our class a thorough explanation on that. But I can't remember if they can still press charges, or if it doesn't matter anymore since she's technically an adult now.
Anyways, I remember reading rumors that she was pregnant a while ago, but it turned out to be false. So I'm wondering if they were actually true, or did she just barely become pregnant...either way, I hope she has a safe pregnancy. It's kind of sad that now she has to take a full on responsibility of mother-hood when her teen "child hood" years didn't even get to finish. Wonder how her show "Zoey 101" is going to do now.

I find it very annoying and will not miss it at all. Of course, that's a selfish thing for me to say. =/

Yes she they can press charges because she was not an emanicpated adult at the time of the alleged crime. Only after.

Oh Okay, yeah that makes more sense. Thanks Mr. Toad.
As for Zoey 101, I never really watched it before. I mean it's been on while t.v. randomly, but enver paid much attention to it. So I won't miss it at all. I've heared it's kinda like Lizzie McGuire.

I heard it was "like Lizzie McGuire, but worse." I've seen more episodes than I care to, because of my younger sister who is - incidentally - the same age as Jamie Lynn. It's much, much worse than Lizzie McGuire and I can't find anything positive to say about it at all.

By the way any other parents think of having kids as emancipating. That is an ironic term.
