What are everyones plans for the holiday? What are your favourite traditions?

Every Christmas Eve for as long as I can remember, we've gone to the Candlelight Service at our church, and then we come home here and open our presents.
Then, on Christmas morning, we open our stockings (which "Santa" brings), and then have a big breakfast. After church, we have a big dinner, and then my grandparents (yes, all four) come over for coffee.

What about everyone else?

We go to the family on my father's side every christmas evening. There we have dinner and open the presents everyone got for each other. Then we go home and go sleep. We have no christmas morning here. Only Christmas evening, Christmas day isn't that important. Nothing happens then.

Aside from the normal traditions we do something that I experienced growing up.

Each Christmas Eve when Santa visits, he leaves a gift for our daughter at the foot of her bed. So when she wakes up on Christmas morning she has a present to open from Santa right there at the end of her bed.


I absolutely LOVED this when I was a kid and she seems to enjoy it as much as I did when I was a tad bit younger.

My is Buddhist. We exchange gifts and visit our relatives this time of year. When I was younger, my family used to put up Christmast trees and lights. On last Thanksgiving, we ate turkey at my aunt's house. I'm going to my aunt's house tomorrow. When my friend Neil lived in the D.C area, we used to hang out at the mall after Christmas. He's in Minnesota now. Sometimes, his parents mail me gifts though.

we don't really do anything. we just exchange gifts we bought each other. we do not put up a Christmas tree or any lights. we do not have the traditional Christmas dinner. my family kinda views Christmas as a waste of money.

we were supposed to go to Disneyland on Christmas day, but it is supposed to rain so we have to go friday.

Every Christmas Eve my family drives through Wendy's for dinner then drives around looking at christmas lights. When we get home my dad reads the story of the birth of Jesus then the night before christmas.

Christmas morning all my siblings and I get up at 6, wake up our parents, then go see what Santa brought. It's cool because there's like a little area of unwrapped presents for each person. I think I'll definitely be doing this same thing when I have kids (and I LOVE what you do indiana!). Then afterward we open all the wrapped presents that are under the tree from parents/siblings. After that we sit around doing whatever till around noon then go over to my mom's parents' house along with all of my mom's family and stay there all day and open more presents there.

Lady, I take it by the emoticon you used that you would rather do a lot more getting into the Christmas Spirit, right? Well, maybe it's gonna have to be up to YOU to make things a bit more special next season. It doesn't have to be about $$ to make it so.
