Could Big Brother 9 be airing sooner than expected?!

CBS may rely on its "Big Brother" as a strike contingency.

Skein, usually a summer staple, has started staffing up for an in-season run that could be on the air as soon as February, people familiar with the situation said.

Indeed, in anticipation of a strike, Eye quietly began casting for the next edition of the show a few weeks ago.

Exec producer Allison Grodner is also said to be working on a new creative twist for the Julie Chen-hosted skein, in which a group of strangers live together in a house for three months.

There's been buzz that the next edition of "Big Brother" might actually use celebrities, as opposed to ordinary people. A long strike might work in favor of such a plan, since some celebs normally busy working on sitcoms and dramas might have some time on their hands.

Possibility of an early "Big Brother" popped up on Tuesday's edition of the Eye's "Early Show." Anchor Hanna Storm joked that the show might be back sooner than the summer, prompting a roll of the eyes from Chen. Chen then expressed her hope that the strike is settled soon.

"Big Brother" would be a perfect strike weapon for CBS because it airs three times a week, filling three key hours of primetime.

Eye execs declined to comment.
My night has literally been made. Let's just hope this really happens (though it would mean prolonging the strike)!

However, if they do go through with this, I really don't like the celebrity idea. Thankfully I don't think it's true, considering I saw an ad on television today telling viewers to apply for the show. Not only that, but CBS already has tons of casting calls scheduled. I was wondering why they were doing this so early, but now I know.

Whoo! Prince Ali is one happy son of a gun! :D :D :D

If this writer's strike goes on for a while, it could be the worst thing to happen to TV since the first season of Survivor.

That would be awesome if there was an early season of Big Brother. However, the only thing about Big Brother is that it is on 3 times a week, so it might be hard to keep up with during the regular television season. I think it is a lot easier to stay up on Big Brother during the summer since there isn't much else going on. However, if this strike lasts a long time, there might not be much going to anyway.

He already did. Why?
Because Big Brother is starting in less than a month!

Well, Big Brother 9 kicked off tonight - what did everyone think??

I don't want to say too much on here, for anyone reading this who has not yet seen the first episode. I will say that when I first heard the "twist" for this season, I was pretty disappointed. However, in tonight's premiere episode when the twist was completely revealed, and the other "sub-twists" were revealed, I think it got a lot better.

I am getting REALLY annoyed with the lack of diversity on this show. Let's see, this season has the two gay guys, the one older lady, and the one black man! What ever happened to seasons where there were people of all different ages, weights, ethnicities, etc. Why does CBS insist on casting young, attractive (and this season, single) people hoping they will hook up for steamy television. Is this Big Brother, or The Real World.

Don't get me wrong, I am still interested and will still continue to watch - I just wish the show was more diverse like it used to be in seasons past.

I saw it. It was ok, first episode is always slow for me, takes a couple episodes to really get interested in it.

Chelsia or w/e her name is seems like a snob to me. Hate Sheila, the older woman for reasons that will be obvious if you've seen the first episode. I wish there was a bit more diversity as well, it seems they're all young, squeaky (in the case of girls) and single.

That's all I'll say for now :)

The live-feeds last night were far more interesting than the actual show. Never seen so much drama after only a few days in the house before.

I do really miss the diversity of the cast though. BB3 was the best season ever, and probably one of the most diverse too.

This season really is all about them hooking up though. They installed a sauna in the house with a big bowl of condoms next to it, and they are keeping the A/C turned off in the hopes that the hamsters (er... "house guests") will walk around with as little clothes on as possible. Too bad there really isn't anybody I'd like to see naked in there this time...

Woah. Is anybody else watching the feeds/BB:AD? Some major stuff is going down it that house tonight.

I wont give out any major spoilers for those who only watch the show, but I do feel the need to say Poor Joshie...

I sorry, but I'm completely addicted to the feeds (I've had them every year since season 2) and I feel the need to discuss these events with people but non of my friends who love BB are online.

You didn't really miss that much. Well there was an eviction and an HOH comp and some other mildly dramatic (way less than anything that's been on the feeds the last 2 days) things.

Sunday's show should be really good though since there was something that happened tonight that COMPLETELY changes the game and they can't ignore.

I can break some non-spoiler news to you guys. According to Josh (through the Diary Room) this season will be shortened. Not surprising as it really was only a place holder during the writers strike, and with that over and ratings down they won't want to waste three hours a week on BB. This probably means this couples crap is for good, and they won't be breaking up and playing individually like they would have had to to keep the show going for 3 months.
