Has anyone viewed the 100 Years of Magic Set being sold all over E-bay. I knew this couldn't be a legit product. Sellers are usually from China. It looks failry impressive though. I'd be curious about the quality of printing on the DVD's and the picture quality compared to the authentic versions? Anyone had a look?

Is that the bootleg box set that has crap thats not even by Disney?

Yes, it's that gold looking treasure box with a princess on it. I'm just curious if the discs look decent both physically and on the screen. I know prior to DVD-9 the compression made it look aweful, wondering now if the DVD-9 bootlegs, which these are look the same. Heck I bought one of E-bay accidentally, I'll go compare now. But I can't be sure it is the same quality.

The reason I'm asking is that I like to keep the discs in my collection in mint condition. So I have two options, backup my discs using my double-layer DVD burner, which takes a lot of time, or just buy one of these bootleg sets for 'users'. It's perfectly legal to have duplicate backup copies of your DVD's for your own use.

It is legal when you duplicate them yourself from the actual copy you bought!!

If you bought legitimate copies Disney doesn't care you bought the Bootlegs to use as a backup set, they already got their money from you. Maybe it's technially illegal, be interesting to get an attorney's opinion, but the bootlegs are produced on the same DVD's you or I can use. My printer prints on DVD's and I've scanned the originals and the few dupes I've made look beautiful. There's no telling the difference really between a duplicate you purchased and one you created yourself.

But the contention that you can make your own but can't essentially pay someone to make dupesfor you, which is essentially what you are doing when buying bootlegs (assuming you also own the legit product), is an interesting issue.

Bottom line is who cares if you already paid Disney their money.

They should care, because you're financing illegal production of copies of their movies.

I saw the set being sold at a car show once. They had Snow White playing on the TV and it was horrible quality due to the massive compression (they fit 4 movies on one disc).
