Loomis, do you know when they're opening it ?
My family and I are going there in the late winter holiday at febuary, so I just wanted to know wether it will open in time.

Does Hong Kong Disneyland celebrate Christmas? I wouldn't expect them to...

I just wasn't sure because China as a whole is not christian. Then again Hong Kong is heavily influenced by it's British past so I'm wasn't sure.

Small World hasn't opened yet so theyre probably just checking if the lights work, they are not celebrating anything.

It looks set for an April 2008 opening at this stage, unless they have a super-early 'soft" opening.

They do, in fact, it kicks off in HKDL on November 23 this year. We are waiting for details though. They celebrated it last year as well. Our coverage can be found here:

As far as religion goes, it is largely Buddhist, but there is a mix. According to Wikipedia:
"he majority of Hong Kong's population, as in Mainland China, practice a folk version of Buddhism. This majority includes approximately six million people, from a total population of less than seven million, or close to 90%. A sizable Christian community of around 500,000 exists, forming about 7% of the total population; it is roughly equally divided between Catholics and Protestants. There are also around 200,000 followers each of authentic Buddhism and Taoism. Apart from the major religions, there are also a significant number of followers of other religions, including an estimated 23,000 Mormons, 3,000 Jews and a number of Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Bahá'ís."

Exactly, our Chief Spy just happened to be in the right place at the right time, giving us a nice little exclusive.

I guess a DisneyLand Park is a DisneyLand Park wherever it is in the world. They still have the same celebrations etc. Are they heavily influenced by where they are positioned?

Yeah, I bought lots of Traditional Chinese cookies the last time I went there, and they celebrate the Chinese New Year at January or Febuary in the park.
