Where are the Love Bug and the Rescuers?

I know that you can get them on-line, but why are they not in stores? If Disney is into making money off of DVDs, then they should be within easy access. I want these movies, but don't want to pay shipping if I don't have too.
anyone seen them in stores yet?

Haven't seen them in stores. Haven't received them from my DMC order, or even been charged on them yet.
They really screwed up somehow.

They really did screw up because they are going to see that sales are down on what they projected them to be so they are just going to remove the "special edition" line because it doesn't work. they porbably don't even realize they are not in stores at this time.
When will Disney get a clue?

I have seen 20,000 Leagues at all the stores I have checked. I also saw Atlantis 2 at all of them. (20,000 is selling out the cheapquel at stores, btw!) I have seen no trace of the other two DVD's. Why put work into a DVD when it won't be available anywhere?

I went to Wal-Mart and didn't see The Rescuers, The Love Bug, or the A Bug's Life: Collector's Edition! What's up with that?

What they really ought to do at this point is just set a new release date for sometime in June, feature it prominently on their site, get info out to retailers, and get into circulars.
I don't know the exact percentage, but a good portion of a title's sales happen in the first week, almost always more than any other week to follow.
In this case, they've totally blown that. The copies that are out, are out...great. But without a firm release of Rescuers and Love Bug, they're really screwing themselves over.
And I fear poco's right on the money that Love Bug is going to grossly underperform and then they'll see it as "Well, we can spend nothing on our crappy Movie Showcase line and THOSE sell better than the great 2-disc set we put together for Love Bug."

I did receive my copy of both the "Love Bug" and "Rescuers" last week through amazon.com. But Disney is not going to see the profit they are looking for if they don't make them available to the general public. I know tha all of us were aware that they were going to be released but I would say that only a very small percentage of there sales come from DVD fanatics like us and if they do not advertise the upcoming releases no one will buy them, especially since they are not availble in the stores when they are suppose to be. I know that last year when the "Vault Disney collection was released that I went to all the department stores where I usually get my DVD's on there release date that out of the 6 or 7 stores in my hometown no one had them. That same day I went to three towns and 15 to 20 stores and traveled 120 miles round trip to get these on DVD that day. And they wonder why the "Vault Disney Collection" did not sale.
Anyhow to see the profits they want they will need to make a few changes.

Well, I'm not denying that the Love Bug and Rescuers releases were botched - that's a fact nobody can deny.
But the lack of the Vault Disney titles in your area last year is another problem Disney has to face - basically most of the big name stores think that older releases won't sell, so don't order them. There's not much Disney can do to make stores order titles, apart from price drops, which obviously they don't want to do within days of a title being released.

i called Wal-mart and they said they had no idea what i was talking about! then i tried K-Mart and the lady said that she did have them, but both rescuers and love-bug were recalled!!!!!!!!! any news on why? anyone that has the disc, is there anything wrong with it? i can't see why online dealers would have it and distribute it, but major retail distributors (i.e. target, which DID have a bug's life 2 disc) would be shipping them back!

on a side note, they used to have info up on the disney release calendar about rescuers and love bug....now it's not even on disney's release calendar. something fishy is going on and it DOESN'T have to do with Pixar.

This sounds
EERILY familiar. I don't know if this is a similar case, but...
When
The Rescuers was first released on WS LaserDisc (catalog # 14793AS), it was recalled by Disney before it even hit the store shelves. Disney stated that the reason was a quality-control issue. IIRC, Disney said that it was "bad glue." (As an aside, LD were pressed by literally gluing the two halves of disc together back-to-back. A handful of LDs have actually split into their respective two halves rendering them useless. This has never happened to me, but it has happened to a good friend of mine once.) Anyway, some people (including myself) were able to get an advanced reserved copy of this disc, which was honored by many of the video store owners at that time (1998) despite Disney's recall. Someone
painstakenly looked at the recalled LD frame-by-frame and found the now infamous two "naughty bits" frames (about 29 minutes and 50 seconds into the film) in the high-rise building as the mice and the seagull fly past. Here is one of the two frames:

Interestingly, these two frames
were included in the 1977 theatrical release of the film. Obviously the animator(s) inserted them as a joke, never suspecting to get caught, since at normal speed the "naughty bits" content of the frames are inperceptible to the human eye.
Oddly enough, the VHS tape is much easier to find than the LD, since it was on the store shelves for several days before it was recalled.
Cheers,

Maybe I should go and order 'Love Bug'.
If it has indeed been recalled, I'll definitely be wanting a copy soon.
The release seems to be forever delayed here, so perhaps I should pick it up while there is still a glimmer of hope....

Apparently, some browsers don't see the above picture. If that is your case then click the following link:

Or, if that still doesn't work then click "res.jpg" on the following link:

Hope this helps,

Call me stupid, but I don't see anything blatantly "naughty" about that frame.

				Look in the window

I doubt that this was included on the American DVD release - they even went to the trouble of editing in a poor NTSC convertion with the image removed into the PAL transfer on the R2 Rescuers DVD release for that segment of the film!
