Saturday Night Live: Season 33 Discussion

SNL has been in a slump the last few years and I thought this week's premiere was a bad sign for Season 33. LeBron James as host?? Come on. He would have been bad any week, but for the season premiere? SNL can do better.
That said, "Iran So Far" was hilarious and Kristin Wiig's skit was funny as usual.
What did everyone else think of the premiere?

Ooooo yay and SNL thread! I wish we could have had these in the past. As for last Saturday Night...
* I really enjoyed Penelope, but then, I always do. She's my favorite recurring character.
* The HSM3 spoof was fun (and I bet you the songs in that are better than whatever eventually crops up in the actual HSM3)
* "Iran So Far Away" was funny, and catchy too!
* Solid Gold was very funny, though I'm not sure I'm old enough to know what it's actually about, I get the gist of it.
As far as the current show as a whole, my favorite cast members are the three ladies. Maya, Kristen, and Amy (maaaaybe in that order) are hysterical and I laugh almost everytime they speak (they're all fantastic at using odd voices).
I hope this season that they get Tina Fey to host (maybe she could do WU with Amy and get Seth outta there!). And my big wish is that Christopher Walken hosts again (They could do it around sweeps or whatever).
I guess we'll find out...

Usually, I only check out SNL when they have a great guest lineup. This week is one of said great lineups - Seth Rogen and Spoon. Yay!
Cheers,
JM

Kristen Wiig is always funny. She's SNL's saving grace

Tonight's episode was especially weak. I only watched through Weekend Update, which had a couple of funny jokes at the beginning but fell on with the excess of "guest" appearances. As is often the case these days, the highlight of the show came with the Digital Short.

Yeah, last night was not the best. I think they could really use to hire a new person that books the hosts, because they've been mediocre at best. I say this as to their preformance, because while Labron James and Jon Bonjovie are bigger names, they preformed much worse than the not-so-big name Seth Rogen. x
Kristen Wiig's Bjork, Maya's Rosa, and Andy's punching people while eating were the best parts of the show in my opinion (looking back).
And Brian Williams seems an odd choice for the next new episode, but I guess we'll see.
