The Jungle Book

I'm sure they will add this title to the club, and I still like 3 movies to complete my agreement, but if they add the Jungle Book, will it be in October or November?

For the people who have been in the club for awhile, how does the timetable work? If the title comes out, let's say in October, does it take one, two, or ever more months for it to hit the club?

Usually it takes at least 3 months (sometimes 2) for a title to come to the club, but sometimes it's more like 4 or 5 months. (There are the rare exceptions to the rule- I think the "High School Musical: In Concert" DVD didn't take that long to come to the club...but most titles take 3-5 months, on average.)

So, my guess would be that the earliest we'll see TJB is in January. I could be wrong, but I'm just basing that on what they've done before.

If that is true about when we see this title or any new title in the club, it's kind of surprising imo. You would think that as a member of a Disney club they might make some release available a month early or something, give us first dibs.

I don't necessarily think that they should allow the DMC members to get the movies before they are released, but I don't understand the reasoning behind getting the movies months later- for the animated releases, I buy them when they come out. If the DMC released movies the same day that retail gets them, then I'd consider getting it through the DMC.

I think that the Feature Title of the Month has something to do with it, since the big titles are the Features of the Month...they must make more money off of the Title of the Month than on other releases...?

I think DMC waiting to offer a new title to the club has to do with an agreement that they have with vendors (such as Best Buy and Target) that they (DMC) would have a waiting period before a new title is offered to the club. I think in the 2+ years that I have been a member, I can only recall one new title that was offered in the same month as it being sold in the stores.

I agree that I purchase my Disney movies when they first come out or in that same month. I like 2 movies to complete my contract and I would purchase the Jungle Book if they offered it this month, but they won't which sucks. Why would an agreement w/other retailers prevent Disney from offering their movies to their club members. It's not like we are getting the free gifts that come w/those first week/month purchases at retailers, and we would be paying a higher price more than likely w/the first week deals. It sucks, but oh well...
