I've been seeing commercials for this for the past few weeks, and I was curious to see if anyone in here is going to see it. I'm intrigued because I like seeing The Rock in these roles that are kind of "outside the box" for him, in this case a guy who meets a daughter he never knew he had. Here's the trailer if you haven't caugh it yet: http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/thegameplan/

I'm considering seeing this movie, at first because it looked like harmless fun, but then also because I learned it is worth double points right now for Disney Movie Rewards. Can anyone who has seen it offer an opinion? For the type of movie it is, it seemed to do well enough at the box office for its opening weekend.

I saw it this past Saturday and thought it was excellent! It's a comedy with a little drama thrown into it...Maddison Pettis is such a cutie! I was impressed with her!

I think it's worth it!

Thanks for the review! I'll definitely go see it now, I've heard a lot of positive feedback about it. Madison Pettis is a cutie, she's also on the Disney channel show Cory in the House, and she's good in that, too. I also heard the Rock is really funny in this, which is great.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm feeling more comforable about shelling out the money for a ticket now....and double points for the Disney Movie Club is an extra bonus!

I saw it last Friday on opening night. My sons, ages 7 and 11 were so excited about going to see it and loved every minute of it. The movie truly has something for everyone. It had football and cool gadgets for the guys and ballet and fashion for the girls. I also enjoyed the Elvis music. All of the actors were believable in their roles, and I loved watching Kyra Sedgwick as an over-the-top agent. My sons want to see it again before it leaves the theaters.

I appreciate your feedback, and I'm happy to hear of another person who liked the movie, but this statement made me chuckle. It's such a 1950's-ish view of gender roles. I'm a guy with no interest in football, but I thought the movie looked interesting because of the father/child relationship. Honestly, I'd be more interested in fashion than football, and in 2007 I don't feel odd about saying that. Thanks again for the positive report though.

I've seen it. It's a sweet and humorous movie. The plotline kept me completely entertained. I found myself giving a silent cheer when Stella (Joe's manager) kissed Sam (the Fanny's Burgers guy). :P

oh man, I really want to see this. Is it better than "The Pacifier"?

I hate having only one theatre chain in my city, they probably won't keep it around very long.

Ugh, I wish they had chosen somebody other than Kyra Sedgewick to play Joe's manager. I find her insufferable on "The Closer".

I saw The Game Plan last night, and I loved it. I laughed, I felt connected to the characters, and I found it engaging throughout. I could have done without the character of the annoyingly stupid football player on the team, and I would like to have seen the ballet instructor's character develop a stronger relationship with Joe Kingman, but I loved Madison Pettis and her relationship with The Rock. I can see why the critics said it was longer than necessary and that it was overly sweet, but despite that, I thought it was a wonderful film. The audience was quite large for a Tuesday evening, and they seemed to enjoy it thoroughly also. From the laughter and comments I heard, I'd say I haven't seen a movie that gathered such a strong audience reaction in a long time. Even afterwords, I heard several positive comments including people saying they wanted to see it again or buy the dvd. The Game Plan is truly a movie that has something for everyone whether you are a man, woman, child, music lover, or sports lover.

I do too, but I still love her. Then again, I love anyone that has a soap opera credit to their name. Of course, some try and belittle and/or hide that fact (Jane Krakowski, Jason Biggs, and Robin Wright Penn come to mind), while others have continually voiced their appreciation for the role they played and the time they spent (Ray Liotta, Julianne Moore, and Kelly Ripa). Then of course, there are some who likely forgot they were even on a soap (I doubt Leo DiCaprio even remembers his one-day stint on "Santa Barbara" as young Mason Capwell in a flashback).

I did not enjoy The Pacifier at all. In fact, I found it difficult to follow through to the end because I simply did not care for the characters. On the other hand, I loved The Game Plan, and for a movie that many critics called overly long, I enjoyed it thoroughly. On the surface, the concept may appear familiar to some, but the heart of the story and the characters was refreshingly attractive.

The Pacifier: A Navy Seal is assigned to protect a family while searching for a MacGuffin named "Ghost".

The Game Plan: A football player finds out he has a daughter and has to take care of her.

Yeah...they're exactly the same! :P
