I recently went to a flea market and purchased a 2003 "Disney Days" calendar; as it was so late in the year it was very cheap. I noticed that on the anniversaries of animated films (which are the only films featured on the calendar) that it would tell the original release date. I found this to be very interesting. Today, for example is the 55th anniversary of [i]Melody Time[/i]. Hopefully it's one year closer to an unedited Region 1 DVD.

an unedited version would be totaly nice. I dont see why disney doesn't release them uncut. It'd sell more -- logic, right?

Yeah, perfect logic. I'd imagine the type of people who would be buying things like Saludos Amigos and Melody Time are mostly the type of collectors who won't be buying because they're edited.

As my continued (and possibly annoying) postings on this board indicate, I am somewhat of a Disney nut.
I would be first in line for all the 'package features' and gladly add them to my collection were it not for the edited scenes.
It is not so much the content that is cut that annoys me, so much as the fact that they were cut at all (except in the case of the 'Martins and Coys' segment that was completely cut - that really gets my back up).
Anyways, there is little that can be done it seems - for now there is a hole in my collection (and a hole in my heeaaaartttt.....I feel a song coming on... )

I didn't even know the edited classics were edited until after I bought them, though I can't say that would stop me (though it angers me so) as I am trying to keep the collection complete. I don't even think "Melody" gives you a "This film has been modified" editing awareness screen as "Saludos" did.
